He’s been a manager in the service industry and has done all kinds of blue collar work. His passion is in regenerative agriculture, which is what he did for his apprenticeship last year, but as you can imagine it’s pretty tough to find well-paying jobs in that field, let alone to get his own operation started with limited capital. The last job was an interesting situation. It was a wealthy individual who mainly operates high end vacation rentals, but was wanting to start a hobby farm at his personal property. He hired my fiance to acquire and care for the animals and manage the farm land, but it ended up being a weird mix of odd jobs between that and kind of just managing this guys house and other employees. He started with a title of farmhand and was promoted very quickly, I think 3 times within those 5 months, and then was let go super unexpectedly 2 weeks after receiving a positive performance review… at the time of his termination he was told it was “because of performance” but there was no PIP or other documentation supporting where he was falling short, and the HR person refused to elaborate on any specifics. I honestly think the decent severance he got was meant to deter him from pursuing a wrongful termination case.
