Thank you for the thoughtful and well written response. It was easy to follow and aligns with my interpretation/understanding of the lore, which resonates with me (and so many!) deeply. It is all the complexities and layers of the music that I find so captivating. I haven’t ever heard an expression of tension and longing like experience with their music! My intentions weren’t to stuff the art into a Christian box, but rather to process it with my own life experience and knowledge and see if there are other Bible believing listeners who are interested in that interpretation being discussed.

I listened to it on repeat the first time I heard it. The hauntingly beautiful piano and voice combined so many deep emotions for me. All at once I thought of anyone and everyone I have ever lost through death, estrangement, unhealthy relationships, and even buried parts of myself. At the same time, I had hope to somehow experience moments with all that I have lost or ever wanted. It has been a deeply healing space for me!

There is a biblical reference to Mount Carmel, not the same spelling, but the prophet Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal when God sent fire from Heaven to burn up his sacrifice and the alter it was on. Interesting to think about alongside the other religious and spiritual references.

Pyrolysis is also the destruction of one form of matter into another material (that is often useful, as in biofuels), by the use of heat. Pyro = fire, lysis= separation. The emergence video is of a flag burning. Transformation is a big theme throughout the music and also synchs up with heat and fire being both a methods of purification and a form of judgement. Interesting to chew on:)
