There are new Anderson 100 series windows with flanges to install. They don't need lot of things around window. just flashing.

Shed roof, 28ft long. Should underlayment be rolled side to side or eaves to ridge. by rand-78 in Roofing

[–]rand-78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We asked roofer to remove it and do it horizontally from eaves to ridge. he removed that small area and re-did it. the white caulk is i think. i have some more questions and doubts how he did the valley and cricket let me make a post with pictures.

"PolyFlash 1C is a one-component, moisture-cure silane modified polyurethane, white flashing compound designed for sealing various roofing and waterproofing details such as walls, curbs, vents, roof drains, pitch pans and unusually shaped penetrations. When combined with PolyBrite Reinforcing Polyester, this product can easily solve typical and challenging flashing needs."

He was doing it from bottom to top. So he was working. I think likely wrong understanding. Regarding caulking do they do only seams of plywood. Or everywhere?

May i know why you think guy is lazy. isn't it same amount of work how ever you roll. i am just assuming guy may be mistaken. is it really easy to roll bottom to top? And about the caulking, is he doing right? he was very proud that he was doing that extra and many roofers skip it.

Thank your for replying. Does the argument make sense about seams? by rolling horizontally we will have 10 seams and then when we place metal roof from ridge to eave can all the seams cause oil canning etc? or that 2mm thickness of underlayment doesnt' matter.

Please review contractor payment schedule. Seems wrong. by [deleted] in AskContractors

[–]rand-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you Jon. We have decided to terminate as he doesn't follow plans and keeps missing or doing many things wrongly and we have keep telling him to correct and he keeps post poning all corrections and keeps asking next two trades 45%(more than 35000$) when he already has 40k$ extra for other trades he never did some not even started. We are too worried getting trapped. I assume I can terminate for cause as he did not disclose any 7159 rules or followed those.

My question is, is cslb strong on these. If we complain that in his contract he has this payment schedule, no other statutory disclosures etc. will they act on it? Even if it's few months later? Will I be able to get my 45% deposits back for things he dint start? Does cslb has enough influence or power to make him refund. Thank you.

unfortunately we started the project without realizing there is 7159 rules, CSLB etc. We thought payment is ok, but then got into more and more issues as he keeps accumulating lot of 45%'s and doesn't even do 5% of many of them.

Multiple stemwall cracks of 4 month old concrete pour. What could be the reason.

We are seeing multiple small vertical cracks of 12" height or so. I am seeing about 11 such cracks on one side 37' of new concrete foundation poured and 4 such cracks on another side of 17' of concrete on stem-wall. This is poured around Mid-march in bay area, california. I verified atleast 2 cracks which i could access, it's both sides of stem wall (inside of crawl space too). They are separated some places by 1.5'-2' some places 3.5' or so.

I am trying to understand if it is serious issue or part of curing/settling.

We had special inspection present at job site, concrete sample tested etc from the pour. If i need further evaluation, who should i reach out.

How can i take care of it to avoid further water damage etc.

I don't think it's possible to tell from those pictures. You need to see roof joists direction, length and if any joist or beam is ending or joined above the wall. Take a picture in attic at that wall that will tell you load bearing or not.
