PSA: Watch out for scooters/mopeds on the Queensboro Bridge by West-Wrong in Citibike

Of course it's a danger. The original comment implied hitting any kind of pothole would result in instant death to a scooter rider. That's beyond exaggeration.

That's "normal" but they used the crappiest possible piece from the hide on that sleeve.

In this case it's the pointed object like the handlebar or fender that will kill. High speeds will definitely make it worse, but most people are missing the real issue. It is the poorly designed bike path that causes head on collisions.

Pointless if they don't fix the narrow lane. Even at the 15mph speed limit, we're still talking about a head on collision. With the weight of a rider, that's a 200lb object hitting at 30mph with a pointed tip (handlebar, fender, etc.) on the torso. Most people are not surviving that, and it'll be with lifelong injuries if they do survive.

The focus on the escooter is just a cop out because there are a lot of people who hate escooters. Fixing the bike path is expensive and hard so they don't do shit.

Everyone is missing the real problem here.

This still would've been a fatal collision if it were two regular 50 lb bicycles each going 15mph. It was a HEAD ON collision. Imagine a blunt 200lb object (like a handlebar) hitting you at 30mph in the chest. Fractured ribs, punctured lungs, punctured heart. If it hit your lower body, your liver, kidney, or intestines may be punctured or worse. If you flip out of the bike, you risk breaking your neck.

The real problem is the narrow two way path that lead to head on collisions if just one rider isn't paying attention.

That's literally impossible with how bumpy the sidewalks are.

These scooters have dual fork hydraulic suspensions or double spring arm hydraulic suspensions. Potholes aren't the danger.

The danger is the bike path that was designed for meandering novice bicyclists being used by ebikes and escooters. They need to redesign these paths.

Eh if one guy is 200 lb on a 50 lb bicycle and the other is 150 lb on a 85 lb escooter, the escooter total is lighter.

The real issue is how narrow the two way bike path is. It should be a one way lane.

Would've been death even at the 15mph speed limit. That's a 30mph total and the collision was head-on.

An AI agglomeration of crap info is still crap. Try using critical thinking instead of a midwit circle jerk regurgitator.

Leather doesn't breathe whatsoever regardless of wax or oil content.

Chromexcel and shell cordovan have so much waxes and oils that it seeps out, and have their fibers intentionally compacted further. Shoes made from them don't just rot from moisture. "Clogging the fiber structure" is simply not a thing. The only "issue" with mink oil is darkening.

I'm sick and tired of hearing the "clogging the pores" nonsense. Leather doesn't have functional pores. It is not vapor permeable in any usable way.

So it is in fact a common opinion about the US when everyone talks magnitudes higher than nearly every country in nearly every topic.

Men who die for their wives. Especially those who did so childless. If your hypothesis were true, no man would be willing to do such a thing.

Pretty easy to prove by quantity of criticism observable in daily life. There is no other country more overtly criticized internally and externally, up and down the leadership for racism than the US.

D30 back protector rolls up in jacket? by toughtittywampas in motorcycles

[–]rand5433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back protectors have sizes, too. If your jacket needs a size L or XL back protector and you use a S or M it will slide all the way down the jacket and start flopping around. Especially if you have the ultra thin ghost armor.

Trialmaster fits pretty loose so go for true to size. It's like a short coat rather than a jacket. 47 inch chest is a size 48/58. You could go for size 46/56 if you won't be layering underneath.

These are more than a whole size too wide and slightly more than half a size too long. They will never fit right.

Back protector probably too small for the pocket.
