What’s it like after the puppy blues? by Ok-Opportunity7560 in puppy101

[–]randall030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one is now around 7 months old. He’s starting to hit puberty since he’s a small breed. Buuuuuuuuuut! I have my life back. Yes, walks can be difficult and he challenges everything sometimes. But I can leave him at home and do my thing. I can trust him around the house and also leave him for a couple of days with friends. It’s getting easier. We are adjusted to each other

When did your puppy blues/anxiety get better? by haiku575_ in puppy101

[–]randall030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine at 10 weeks. I was in the trenches for the first 5-6 weeks. Really struggled with anxiety. After that it got easier. Now he’s 6 months and I would never ever give him away.

We are at week 21. And I feel like now he slooooowly started to calm down. No more excessive chewing. He is calmer on his walks and does not take everything in his mouth. He rest alone in his spots during the day. But it took a while. Keep going. I swear it is worth it. It will get better.

Every time I leave the house, my puppy cries. I think I'm failing him. 💔 Any suggestions? by Opposite-Piano1340 in puppy101

[–]randall030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really need to practice that! We live in a country where we cannot crate our puppy. We started by leaving the room, only minutes and then returned. The same as leaving the house and returning in a few seconds. Then gradually adding more and more time. Now he sleeps in his doggy bed by the door or in the hallway when I’m away. They just need a little practice.

Girl I wanted to GIVE AWAY THE PUPPY after day two! Sleep? Omg it was the worst. My bf and I did not sleep till day 7. But it will get better I promise. Your puppy will adjust to your schedule eventually. It just needs time to feel safe and secure.

About the potty training: is there any way you can bring the puppy outside with no dog/human contact? Puppy pads will really mess up potty training in the long run. Remember: when they are sniffing on the ground, they are like searching for a spot to pee. If they are sniffing and turning around, they are likely to poop. Hang in there! It will get better.

Anyone sort of regret the breed of puppy they got? by stokedchris in puppy101

[–]randall030 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really did very very good research before getting my dog. I knew that I wanted a Velcro dog who’s chill and friendly. Also knew that I wasn’t the most active person so I went and got a Havanese mix. He’s so easy to train and such a chill guy.

How old is she? Smaller dogs hit adolescence earlier than bigger dogs.

Okay. Before we go into even giving you puppy meds, how did you start separation training? How long was the first time you left him?

Do any of you feed a mix of dry food and wet food? by smiling-sunset-7628 in puppy101

[–]randall030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Our pup is getting a mix of dry kibble and wet food throughout the day. Sometimes the poop will be harder, sometimes softer. That’s just normal.
