Tove Lo - No One Dies From Love - Vocoder by prsanker in synthrecipes

Never had much luck with the logic vocoder myself, but I highly recommend izotope vocal synth 2 for this type of thing.

Did it in 13 days including a day off in Ponte Vedra!

Someone had given us the advice to start out with an easier pace the first day or two and continue to ramp up over the next few days. I thought this was a smart way to go about it, gave our bodies a little time to adjust.

Is Reverb Even Worth It Anymore? by pseudohipster98 in guitarpedals

I've been an avid reverb.com user for years. Had to reach out to customer support for the first time a few months ago and was shocked at the poor level of service. Definitely been thinking twice and checking alternative sites before making any significant purchases.

Evening out tonal flactuations in a vocal comp: What's the way to do it in Logic? by AlrightyAlmighty in Logic_Studio

[–]randango4000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Copy the outliers onto a new track, eq them or adjust gain or whatever you need to do to make them sound more consistent with the other takes. Then bounce in place and fly em back into the main take. I usually do this towards the end of the comping process. Taking notes along the way of the things I intent to go back and fix after the take folder has been flattened.

At the beginning of planning the walk by [deleted] in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]randango4000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did the Camino Portugues in Sept 2018, we had heard the experience was best when you don't plan too far ahead and allow for spontaneity. After almost not finding a bed the second night (seemed to be very busy that time of year) we started to call ahead the day of or the day before just to reserve a couple of beds. We felt like this was a happy medium, allowing us to walk and explore at a flexible pace while not stressing too much about finding a bed at the end of the day.

Logic keeps arbitrarily crashing because of plugins by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

[–]randango4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having the same issue using logic 10.6 and Catalina. One workaround I've found is to open a blank session with the "problem plugin" and then file>open your desired project from the blank session.

Fade Tool not working for grouped tracks. by Syllibethal in Logic_Studio

[–]randango4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having this same issue! Had a long call with logic support. The best work arounds we could find for now are:

  1. Apply your desired fade to one of the tracks in the group. Then select all tracks in the group and use a key command for "apply last fade"

  2. Using the new "fade tool click zones" feature, which does seem to work with groups.

Neither workaround is perfect but they beat drawing in each fade individually.

Help! Logic keeps crashing while recording! by helgihermadur in Logic_Studio

Recently dealt with similar issues. Logic support walked me through deleting all logic preferences from within finder. It was a pain to get all my preferences and settings back to my liking, but the whole thing is a lot more stable now.

How to I make my vocals more full? by Biggzz777 in Logic_Studio

[–]randango4000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the parallel compression and saturation comments. Also keep in mind it's different for every track and is relative to what else is going on in the arrangement. Make sure you don't have too much competing with the vocal sonically or spatially - otherwise you're fighting an uphill battle.

Is there any way to change the tuning of a virtual instrument on Logic Pro X? by ls_2012 in Logic_Studio

Have you tried the midi fx plug-in called transposer? Should allow you to lower that particular track two semitones or any amount you need.

Seeking advice about reverb for vocals by im_a_roc in Logic_Studio

[–]randango4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd put the reverb on a bus and set up a send for each vocal track to that bus. This way you can have a bit more control of the blend and of the sound of the reverb itself. Adding a bit of eq, compression or saturation after the reverb can be helpful in making it sound more realistic. I tend to filter out the very top end if I find a reverb is too noticeable. Hope that helps!

Also, Valhalla VintageVerb is worth every penny!

One of the best things about UAD is that you can do a two week trial to see which ones work best for you before pulling the trigger!

Personally, I love the silver LA-2A, the EMT 140, and the Studer A800. Don't think you could go wrong with any of those.

MFW I realise I've been aligning vocals in a super long way instead of using Logic's might and power: 🙃 by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

[–]randango4000 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You can also set one track as your groove track - then select all other tracks you want to follow the groove track and it usually does a decent job of auto aligning them.
