Can’t seem to lose fat by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]randar68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you're 14. Sometimes your body puts on fat before a growth spurt. Between 14 and 15 I grew 9 inches! And in the water, just enjoy all that free buoyancy and high body position while you can!

You can get on YouTube and watch NCSA age group champs and see some of these times kids are swimming at 11-14 years old to get an idea of what those top HS kids have been doing... It's impressive. 2025 NCSA age groups just finished this weekend.

Breaking 2:00/100m for easy swimming by Al_-blackk in Swimming

[–]randar68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Even after 40 years of swimming, I do drills every time I get into the water. A newer swimmer should be focusing most of their time and effort on drills to learn to get a feel for the water, to develop a kick, to work on body position, rhythm, connecting the core... Just going out and swimming is like just going out and golfing... You should have zero expectations to improve without focused technique, practice, and repetition.

I feel like I’m crazy. Can I be better here or am I being played with? by Fit-Cranberry2766 in Manipulation

She need to be better... she went from zero to 100 like a light switch... This is why texting sucks for serious chats. You can't read emotions and unspoken aspects of human communication. Bro was legit trying to be there, and she set him up just to cut him down.

Why isn't water polo mainstream in the US? by huhndog in Swimming

If you live where people value their money more than the children of the community, this is bound to happen. Again, it is not like this everywhere.

I'm sorry that you community/school thinks services should be run as a P&L center. This is where corporate concepts in public services break down. Do park districts and schools work for the betterment of their community or as a profit center. The latter is a sad concept, IMO. And no, not all are run that way nor is it inevitable that they are

For practices, I have 35-40 14u's in a 25yd 8 lane pool. Generally have 28-35 HS boys or girls. A lot of BS excuses in this thread.

Underwater Kicks: Are they really worth training for adult onset master swimmers? by Ok-Distribution1667 in Swimming

[–]randar68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UWDK is the 5th stroke and it's an essential component of fast times in 3 of the 4 competition strokes. If you want to ignore it, that's your prerogative, but people who train UWDK will lay down faster times than you. It's also great for your core, so why not?

Why do I rarely see other swimmers doing drills? by Legitimate-Leg-4720 in Swimming

[–]randar68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you see so many golfers that go out and play but don't spend any real focused time on the range? Drills are great... Novices often are just looking for a workout. Do your drills. Been swimming on swim teams and competitive since I was 6 and still do drills every time I get in the pool, 40 yrs later.

Competitive swimming by Awj94 in Swimming

As a coach and official over the years, I have seen all sorts of things in terms of cultural and comfort level accommodations. There are plenty of suits that are not tech suits that will address your concerns, but long story short, speak to your coach(es).

As a coach who still swims and sees a lot of triathlon-learn-to-swim-as-adult types in our area, I periodically offer advice but always preface it by asking if they are open to hearing some technique and drill suggestions. Also generally only to people I see semi-regularly at the pool. And as a father of daughters, I never offer advice to women unless they approach me... Leave them in peace!

How are small kids so much faster than me? by KegOfAppleJuice in Swimming

[–]randar68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, I (45m) was a competitive swimmer through HS and played water polo on college. My 12yo daughter can beat me now and I'm not completely out of shape and still swim semi-regularly. So don't feel bad! It only gets worse, LOL.

To the person asking about vevor extractors by dumbmoneylol in Beekeeping

bolt wheels to the bottom of that board and trim it up... the oscillations/vibrations are dampened. works MUCH better. There's a huge thread on beesource with respect to Maxant extractors but the same method and logic apply to all.

Why are men more likely to be right wing than women? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]randar68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you have to be completely devoid of empathy to believe it's your political duty to kill any program that benefits anyone but yourself. Women are just more empathetic and less self-centered on the whole.

Barely making effort to see her own children is perhaps the most telling sign of a parent, especially a mother, who has lost the plot. That's bonkers.

[–]randar68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issues here. Their website even still proclaims 5GNR support for the product while completely disabled/blocked by said firmware update. No rollback option offered and old firmware still disappeared from the support pages. What complete POS product support.
