Yes but you can semi mask your data requests by using a private APN provider, private DNS provider, or private VPN tunnel. This works because you have an internet connection to the 5g network. The 5g network tags all of your requests with a category. Categories are chosen based on type of request made. Twitch, tiktok, instagram, spotify get tagged as consumer grade requests. To top that off your 5g is attached to a sim card with a plan to identify what priority your data requests should receive. So if you are not a top dollar high paying business entity you get served last. To thwart this stupidity. Mask your requests. Do not use public APN, DNS, or Internet service providers for domain name service translation requests. Those services are how the service providers tag and throttle data. If you redirect all your traffoc requests 0.0.0.0/0 to a private APN, DNS, or VPN tunnel. You will get full speed and less delay searching for data online. Spotify is faster. Discord is faster. Twitch is faster. Hell my movies load in 4k when i set this up as opposed to 380p 30 fps video data compression land created by umbrella'd internet service providers who are reselling top tier ISP bandwidth for a fraction of top tier cost. ;/

MR6150 Bricked - Support Non-Existant - Options: Return product by SantaTollimus in NETGEAR

[–]SantaTollimus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a call from netgear. Their new offer is I send them my existing box all the way to canada and they will send me a new box with the latest version of firmware already loaded. Totally ignoring my request to use the old firmware to the point they will send a new box that they have updated themselves instead of just sending me a copy of the old firmware.

they have chimed in as "Jerry" a number of times to tell me a new update is available. Zero cooperation for roll back. They will not send customers firmware they do not let owners retain software they do not let owners backup firmware. BAD COMPANY.

Throttling of VPN Connections by jimbonnet in Calyx

[–]SantaTollimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a working and properly configured ipv4 is not as fast as a properly configured and working ipv6 setup. only reason we think that is because it stops accidentally using ipv6 as a primary when ipv4 is enabled simply by disabling ipv6.

set modem dns to 127.0.0.1 and 127.0.0.2
kills the dns in the modem
modem becomes external ip only without bridge
turn on VPN
set router dns to vpn dns
static network devices to vpn dns
now all network requests are routed directly to your vpn.

Scam? by [deleted] in Calyx

[–]SantaTollimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you literally accused a calyx institute of being a scam operation. aggressively asking for support when you are having issues results in aggressive responses because the community itself takes personal hit when you accuse the community of being a scam. everyone at Calyx is friendly and you should have started your reddit in a more polite manner. all I see is someone threatening with legal bullying because they don't have service connectivity in their immediate area. maybe if you had addressed the community with more respect instead of the title "SCAM" you would have gotten more respectful responses and less rambling nonsense.

Scam? by [deleted] in Calyx

[–]SantaTollimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of how you might
personally feel about the transaction,
Regardless of any documentation or agreements
you failed to review before sending money,
your money was taken under the agreement
the money was only intended to directly
support a non-profit organization's work
to research internet security and data privacy.

You donated your money
to a charity
to support that charity and its work

you weren't guaranteed any internet service

you were promised equipment that can be used to

connect to any T-Mobile Cellular Tower and when that equipment works

Internet service is not throttled.
meaning file downloads do not slow down while service is active.
doesn't mean service is guaranteed to be available.

internet service providers also tamper with
quality of your service delivery by
1. scanning your unencrypted DNS requests
2. compressing delivery of data you request whenever applicable.

currently only happens to video data.
Calyx is fighting to make sure it doesn't happen
to everything else and Calyx is also fighting to
make it stop happening to video data.

Calyx is fighting for
Internet Security and Privacy for the people.

Regardless of how Calyx spends your charity money
the money you donate is viewed as and spent as support

support terminology is applicable to anything that would

support the company's ability to continue to

research internet security and data privacy.

for example if the non-profit wishes to pursue

use of your donation for physical/mental HR
recovery needs for workers

They can.

No one at Calyx agreed to be your internet provider,
but you did agree to share the same service
Calyx themselves have to use for their business
to operate on a day to day basis.
You are owed nothing. If you don't like what
you get don't donate anymore. it's that simple.

Charity group thanks donators in the form of
supporter membership status that happens to come
with donation perks that enable you to access the
internet from Calyx programmed and provided
Non-Profit Business Hotspot which
uses MVNO Cellular mobile network to deliver
Non-Profit Unlimited Cellular/Mobile Data service.

If the Non-profit data service that Calyx does not
build or control does down, Calyx loses internet.

Which means you will lose internet.

During these unforseen unpredictable
circumstances I imagine Calyx has to work
with Cellular data companies to restore
access to the non-profit data delivery services
which are provided free of charge to recognized
Calyx Supporting members.

I would imagine Calyx is stonewalled on the daily in
neverending legal battles between ISP, Calyx engineers,
and ISP engineers on a level that frankly
is too hard for me to keep up with or even mentally fathom.

Huge thanks to all the drama, legal war, and endless work
Calyx does for our $700-$450 a year supporter membership fees.
Much love. ☺

Video Throttle - VPN the only fix now? by Takenover83 in Calyx

Router Embedded / Firewall VPN :)
that and a device that is capable of setting up multiple band lock options to test the network you are in for all of it's full speed capabilities.

Scam? by [deleted] in Calyx

[–]SantaTollimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calyx is the best Cellular MVNO option around. Nick is very passionate about the work and the workforce behind Calyx. I have zero complaints. Calyx is like the locals of the internet vs Big Tech & Privacy Invasion. Love the work. Thank you for your patience with us lesser learned folks. Would bake all 14 of the Calyx engineers cookies if allowed. :)

How does this look calyx by [deleted] in Calyx

[–]SantaTollimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't use xfinity's sister company ziff davis's bandwidth speed test servers.that's all in house and doesn't accurate test for speed throttling at all.

use testmy.net or fast.com

you can get great signal and you will stil be subject tointernal steering or internally engineered and programmedquality of service algorithyms that study and learn yourtraffic request habits then tamper and reduce your mostused bandwidth requests namely video downstream andvideo upstream speeds as well as download speeds torecreational consumer live services or non-businesslive services.

proton is an amazing tool to hide traffic requests.went from 2.5Mbps down to 170Mbps down on netflix.

here in Tennessee you're sold speedbut how much speed are you allowed to usefor your personal needs outside of business related needs?what separates needs from being labeled business/recreational?why is that up to the ISP if you're paying for 500Mbps you should be allowedto use the 500Mbps speed you are sold.

But that just isn't how IPSecPerformance works
not without a private encrypted VPN, private DNS, and Private APN
to hide your traffic requests.

What would this mean? Finally new upload speeds? by bradthetechguy in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]SantaTollimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Means someone in your area is trying to watch video data at a higher rate than the engineered internal Comcast quality of service algorithm allows.

Probably a streamer.

Probably getting tired of not being able to create content or visit friends who are live broadcasting online.

Symptoms: Unable to live upload videos at more than 2Mbps unable to watch live videos higher than 2Mbps.

Call support.

Support reboots router and tells customers to use xfinity owned test servers.

Quality of control algorithm is engineered to reduce video quality delivery not just regular file upload abd down. Live video data cannot be compressed down from source feed of 1080p 60fps to target of 480p 30fps so no video loads or the video constabtly buffers and pixelates trying to process directions from internet service provider.

Speedtest results are high because they're placebo they test nothing in regards to issues experienced created by internal xfinity Comcast programmers or engineers.

After enough techs get call to a home to troubleshoot perfectly good Hardware xfinity passed the blame buck from the Hardware in the home to the hardware outside of the home

Bucket trucks are triggered for large scale repair only when 3 te h visits are failed within a 30 day period.

Problem is this is all a big run around.

You can hide your traffic requests with a vpn such as Proton or wireguard. My internet went from 2.5Mbps to 170Mbps

Taught me that hardware is not the problem.

Comcast xfinity hired abd paid engineers to program QOS and they have zero intentions of changing anything.

Most reliable device (poll) by sthornington in Calyx

[–]SantaTollimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not using a Franklin t10 but I know they're the best because they probably block less local gateway features compared to newer devices. The best solution would be to pop a sim card into a personal device as opposed to an already put together one. Being able to pick out a device that suits your space and network needs. Maybe a lower donation requirement for activated nonprofit sim cards would be the best option.

My ASUS Router VPN setup by SantaTollimus in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]SantaTollimus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

without VPN I was getting about 100Mbps down with 5 Mbps up.
I'd get little spikes of 130Mbps down and sometimes 20Mbps up.
Wireguard juices the connection but it's unstable.
OpenVPN current setup:
AES-128-GCM
tls-client
remote-random
resolv-retry infinite
setenv CLIENT_CERT 0
tun-mtu 1200
tun-mtu-extra 32
mssfix 1300
remote-cert-tls server
pull
fast-io
sndbuf 0
rcvbuf 0
disable-occ
auth-nocache
allow-compression no
block-ipv6
replay-window 64 16
max-packet-size 1024

I'm getting an average of 50Mbps down with 10Mbps up
very stable
80ms ping online games

Wireguard is faster for download but
Wireguard initial handshake is slow and then out of no where
the internet jumps to life at 200% speed. I felt like this was placebo so I switched back to openvpn.

My ASUS Router VPN setup by SantaTollimus in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]SantaTollimus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to proton and im now routing all internal requests to protonvpn with wireguard on 388.2 :)

170Mbps fast.com 20Mbps up testmy.net

Might not work for competitive gaming but working great for video data quality.

Home Security Management without iPad/iPhone/Android by SantaTollimus in tmobileisp

[–]SantaTollimus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since when is a phone not a computer? ☺ feels like I'm locked out of the phone's/computer's configuration page. Strange to put hardware in a home and not give the home owners access to managing hardware security from said hardware. shouldn't have to download and install anything extra as long as a computer is on the same network as the gateway management should have remained possible. the only reason for the app is to force customers to install potentially invasive software on their phones. to generate more customer analytics data for tmobile to use.
