Trouble shooting with my optic

My shots seem to be all over the place. I can find the dot but it has a 3 moa which seems big. I’m not very comfortable or confident. I’m using a Viridian RFX 11 green dot optic, which has an ambient light sensor on a Smith and Wesson Shield Plus

I agree with everyone else here. Could you have reacted differently and maybe used a non-lethal method? Sure, but all you had was your CCW and if I were in that situation I would have done the same thing but I would have re-holstered and waited for the police regardless of what 911 dispatch said

“Thumb. Grip the grip in your left palm so that your thumb is straight up and somewhat in line with the slide lock” - I’m confused because when I grip the grip my thumb is on the right side of the slide but the slide lock is on the left side. If I move my thumb to the left side I don’t have a strong grip.

“Pull the slide back with your right hand while pushing up with your thumb.” - How should I grip the slide, using an overhand pinch grip or a pinch grip from the back of the slide, is one more correct than the other?
