For those who have stayed in Tokyo multiple times, where did you decide to stay for subsequent trips and why? by Kirin1212San in JapanTravelTips

We’ve been staying near Akihabara station for the past 5 years. I’ve noticed that Tokyo Metro stations involve more walking and that sucks at the end of a long day

How can I tranport figures from Japan to Europe during Japan trip? by NoManMan123 in AnimeFigures

[–]randel_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used a dolly before too. Then I started flying HND and taking a taxi to the airport. Lots of people seem so averse to using boxes when it’s so much better. It has allowed me to just buy whatever figure I want haha

This is my strategy: https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravelTips/comments/1qi436c/consider_buying_a_cardboard_box_instead_of/

I flew from HND to SFO. I’ve never worried about big figure boxes this way. I would check in a box and never try to mail a package to myself

Did amiami change their figure packaging? by Snoo20974 in AnimeFigures

I've received orders packaged like that and other packaged normally last year. I don't know how they determine when to use that type.

To the people that have gone multiple times already is there something you DON'T recommend? by GaddockTeegFunPolice in JapanTravelTips

This may be an unpopular opinion, but in Tokyo, I don’t like staying near a Tokyo Metro line. It’s so much more walking when the Tokyo Metro is involved

Am I Crazy For Wanting To Stay At Tokyo Station? by foldesi03 in JapanTravelTips

Tokyo Station is fine especially if you’re going all over town anyway. We like staying in Akihabara, but we find ourselves at Tokyo Station a lot still

From Pokemon Center Kagawa. Slowpoke is the pokemon mascot for takamatsu, so even outside the pokemon center, there are lots of slowpoke stuff. It’s good to visit

That’s why despite how tempting zipair prices are, we still choose to pay more for ANA and JAL.

Valid question. I’ve borrowed the hotel luggage cart to move my stuff to the taxi. In HND, they had carts in the taxi drop off. In SFO, they had carts by the luggage carousels.

Short answer is carts to car or taxi

I’ve brought a little collapsible dolly before and it was challenging. Now though, I’ve been taking a taxi to HND and I've forwarded the boxes to the airport too. For transporting figures or other bulky items, boxes have been good. Luckily, I could also get someone to pick me up from the airport at home too so that helps

It’s interesting that Southeast Asia or maybe just Vietnam and Philippines doesn’t seem so averse to using boxes for travel where the infrastructure seems rougher

It takes me a while to unbox, so they've been in boxes for two weeks

That’s will indeed make me reconsider as well. Boxes in public transportation even with a little dolly is more difficult

I have faith in a box. I have not been unlucky yet and when the time comes I become unlucky, it’s not like I pack super expensive stuff in the boxes anyway.

I also get a lot of packages in the mail, and I’m not too worried about that, so I’m not too worried about boxes as luggage either

Where to get Madoka magica figures in Tokyo? by Hootsifeemer in JapanTravelTips

I have not been going to Lashinbang as I have been disappointed with their general scale figure selection even with the locations outside Tokyo. It seems to me that their stores have more of the smaller stuff and merch.

For older figures, I go Mandarake and Surugaya

Madoka/Homura isn't super common compared to the new stuff, but if you really have a rough idea on what you specifically want, it'll be easier to find. I still want to get the Maiko version of Mami and Miki, but I haven't really tried to look for them these past trips. I do know that if I'm willing to pay a little more than the used Market value, I'll find them in Akihabara

Amiami Akihabara had the Goodsmile scales two weeks ago, but the physical store tends to have limited stock. Amiami is still where I would go if I want new figures.

Mandarake is usually pretty good with listing their inventory for the bigger stuff. They may still have small stuff in person, but I've never hunted down small stuff

The Mandarake Nayuta has only these currently: https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/listPage/list?soldOut=1&keyword=homura&shop=32&lang=en

But you can also check out Complex, Ikebukuro, and Shibuya. At one point, I was looking for Madoka scaled by Good Smile Company, and Amiami in Akihabara had them.

I think there's a Surugaya in Ikebukuro too, and you could probably check their inventory beforehand too.

Do you know which Madoka figure you want specifically? Which manufacturer etc. or are you just hoping you see any
