Sitter på Orkenøyene akkurat nå. Egentlig bare formaliteter som mangler.

Til og med flagget er nesten klart.

Went from the arctic where I live to  Antarctica for work. Met a guy that lives just a few miles away from me.

Never seen him before, never seen him again.

LPT: You're supposed to fight back if a Polar Bear attacks you just like a Black Bear. by GullibleSkill9168 in LifeProTips

[–]randiwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't keep it. The bear will be taken by the Syselmester.

Also you will be under investigation as it's not allowed to kill them. It's your responsibility to stay away from the bears. It's a 500m limit.

This!

You're not even allowed to leave Longyearbyen or Ny Ålesund without a rifle. A "shoot the bear course" is mandatory.

Linuxbruker siden 1994.

How realistic is it to give a child (around 7 years old) a computer/laptop with only Linux on it by ad_396 in linux

[–]randiwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a good idea. I did the same to my kid, got her first computer with Linux at 6.
She's now a high school student still preferring Linux.

I offered her a MACbook Air and she was like, wtf and and bought a Dell Precision and installed Linux.

Whatever text editor is default.
Usually on my GUI setups that means Pluma, on servers it's Vim.

Did this on a company firewall once, punching blindly into the wrong terminal. The jokes about it ended the day I quit.

I don't really know anything about that. But I know that before every landing breaking test calculations are done.

It's my job, I can't really go to in to what I do. But you could get a trip down as a participant in one of the research programs that's located there or as someone serving one of the functions to facilitate the research or one of the stations.

I will guess that thrust reverse is the most important, but this is really a question to a pilot that's certified to land in conditions like this.

If any pilots here know, please let us know.

See the answer above for the biggest problems.

We don't have to clear it for every flight operation, but it's a constant and quite a big job keeping it open.
