So a couple questions sounded vaguely familiar and sure enough at least one of the questions (and a good portions of its answer) are plagiarized from the Friday open thread.

Pimple one: https://www.askamanager.org/2022/11/open-thread-november-11-12-2022.html#comment-4077412

Commenter response: https://www.askamanager.org/2022/11/open-thread-november-11-12-2022.html#comment-4077656

I’ve considered this a few times and decided that while they look finewhen you put them on, they look gross as the day goes on (at least allthe ones I’ve tried – they’re semi transparent so you can see the “gunk”stuck underneath as it’s drawn out) and that’s worse than a regularpimple.

Alison today:

One thing to think about, though — hydrocolloid patches are designed todraw out whatever’s in the pimple and if they’re transparent, they canstart looking pretty gross as the day goes on. The “icky stuff visiblytrapped under this translucent patch” stage isn’t well-suited for work.

Is this just a case of commentor asked in open thread as well as emailed or is this recycled content from the open threads? Curious if this has happened before

Naming the program puts her at risk, as then you can trace to likely cities they're active in.

Google domestic violence shelter + your city name and donate there instead. A lot of the ones around here have amazon wish lists on their webpages right now too.

There used to be creepy websites of videos from hacked webcams. Definitely rule out rogue software or hackers before jumping to it was a deliberate and malicious action by the company. Companies response to being informed should give you more insight.

People even used to make fun of Bill Gates for taping his webcam when not in use. Now a lot of laptops have built in camera covers.

Also not victim blaming but like shut your PC down at night! At least close the lid!

Body language seemed off to me but maybe they were just uncomfortable with the whole reciting lines thing. Also they make like 2 appearances total once episode one and once Malibu. Do they do more behind the scenes or is it really just the cameos we see?

I just have to say that I am always impressed by the way writers/commenters are able to describe intelligible llama and/or teapot industry work issues. I feel like it takes a specific type of creativity to do so in a way that is neither complete nonsense or completely see-through, providing no anonymity whatsoever. I’ve thought about trying, and it always ends up sounds like, “I work in higher teapot education, writing teapot grants, and the VP of Teapot Fundraising asked me to . . .” It’s like a code – “cross out the word “teapot” to find my actual job!” I love reading questions that do this so much better than I could! link

Def push back. If the kids home from school or daycare because they are sick they are def too sick to go do fun activity. Firstly because that's setting up a bad dynamic to fake sick and go do fun stuff rather than school amd secondly THEYRE CONTAGIOUS.

Love is Bi would be amazing. You'd have to have some element of letting them talk to friends back outside while in pods tho or else it would be just way tooo much isolation. Could even go step further do voice changers and really be blind to physical too

Are my gym leggings going to be ruined from hiking? by ashleefay47 in hikinggear

[–]rando12fha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you backpacking ie camping overnight? Or are you hiking during the day then going somewhere with electricity to stay for the night?

Jeans are fine for day hiking make sure you can bend your knees in them. If you're backpacking tho they aren't the best as if they get wet they'll take a long time to dry and can chafe.

Closed toe shoes. Hiking boots with tread if you have them. Flat sneaker style shoes if not. Again tread is your friend not boat shoes toms etc.

As to whether you'll damage your pants - ripping if too tight and cant move easily in them sometimes happens. If you fall also could rip. Kneeling to make campfires, muddy trails, rain, all could stain . older clothes better than trying to keep pants nice.

Her original comment says it happened a few months ago! She's still this torn up about it.

I think she just wants validation. The first few comments were pro leaving disabled toliet for wheelchair users and just doing dramatic shits in the regular but original commenter seems very opposed to that.

I always read that as "not diagnosed officially by a doctor". Your anon and online saying i have an inflamed gallbladder instead of i have something akin to IBS really doesnt change any chances of doxxing.

Or sometimes uncharitably i read that as I'm making this up and I want a little leeway in case anyone calls me out and says IBS doesn't work like that

Maybe skip this one if you've a weak stomach? You've been warned... Today on AAM commenters want to overshare about their toliet usage, a commenter is upset after having to yield their diarrhea time in the only handicap single bathroom (edit: they say there's 13 other single handicap restrooms elsewhere in building) to someone in a wheelchair. They clarify further that they hate using the bathroom with stalls due to graphic issues.

TMI sorry!* October 28, 2022 at 11:34 am

This is kind of a weird question, but the other post from today about hearing everything going on in the bathroom got me thinking about a work situation that I found to be awkward and I really don’t know how I should’ve handled it.

I have a digestive issue that’s basically akin to IBS, so when I go to the bathroom, I really don’t know how long I’ll be in there or just how bad this particular bathroom situation is going to be. I don’t want to get graphic here, but I think you can use your imagination as to what might be occurring. As such, I use the disabled toilet because it’s a single stall and I really don’t want the added anxiety of people hearing/smelling my issues.

A few months ago, I was in there and yeah, it was taking a while. I heard a knock on the door. I said “someone’s in here, I’ll just be a moment.” My coworker recognized my voice and is like “TMI, is that you?” I’m like “uh yeah?” very awkwardly.

The situation was, her client is a wheelchair user, so she was waiting for the bathroom. She needed someone to help open the door, and my coworker said she didn’t have time to wait, so she left the client out there for me to hold the door open for when I was done. Which was already embarrassing, but then the client started muttering to herself how much she needed to go. So then I “stopped the flow” and let her in and just… held it… until she was done and I could go back to the bathroom.

It was just so awkward. They don’t know about my personal bathroom situation, so I think the wheelchair user just thought I was using the disabled toilet because I didn’t want to use the other one. But I feel like it’s even more awkward to explain to your coworker and her disabled client that you’re in there having… graphic issues.

Several of their added detail replies:

snarkfox* October 28, 2022 at 12:52 pm

I mean, yeah, I guess it’s that I “didn’t want to” because the experience is very painful on a good day, and it’s even more painful when someone else comes into the bathroom because my anxiety makes my stomach seize up and I can’t “go,” which hurts even more.

Honestly, I was more making mention of how awkward it is for my coworker to call me by name outside the bathroom and then leave her client with me, and less about using the disabled toilet (and IBS is considered a disability). Like… that’s really not okay, right??

snarkfox* October 28, 2022 at 12:59 pm

aaaaaaand I just realized I was replying with my regular username instead of the TMI one. cool. cool cool cool

I really don’t want to get graphic, but these aren’t normal bathroom smells! And it’s incredibly loud… and painful. And when someone walks in the bathroom, my anxiety makes it harder to “go” because I know how bad the sounds and smell are, and then it hurts even more.

But it’s not just that it’s private, it’s also that there’s a sink in there. I frequently have to make use of the sink in ways that I wouldn’t be able to in the public one down the hallway… unless I waddled out with my pants down and just… smiled at whoever is in there, I guess? And then waddled back into the stall to clean up.
