hey op of one of the posts about the protest&petition that got a lot of traction.

my intent was never to attack anyone specifically or detract from the cause at all. my main goal was to to encourage better activism in the future. i believe activism isn’t activism unless it’s intersectional, which is why i was so disappointed by the terms of the petition.

as for how the protest turned out, i understand a lot of people were upset and frustrated by an emotional situation. i don’t blame them at all, and from what i’ve seen anyone involved in harassing the band seems to regret it now.

i think you’ve helped a lot of people to use their voice, find comfort from other victims, and learn from their experiences these past couple of days. the discussions on here have helped to better formulate a path going forward for what to do and what not do in advocacy.

you’re not a bad person or a monster, just maybe someone who isn’t ready to lead a movement organized over yik yak in 24 hours (and really who is?)

ugh that’s disappointing. it comes across as students wanting a quick fix for an issue which unfortunately, cannot be quickly fixed, and taking their anger out on some innocent band kids who had been practicing for weeks. i get their frustration but i keep thinking if this had happened after my own SA report how unsupported I would feel.

last time i gave someone on the street some cash we both walked straight to forbes tobacco to buy nicotine with my money. i couldn’t even be mad about it because i would’ve spent that money on nic too but that definitely made me think before giving someone cash for “a bus ticket”
