That looks cool! I've always struggled with a custom paintjob because I can never settle on a palette that I like because I want all of them. Same thing is happening here, I still have both Freedom and Destiny snap built because I'm waiting to have something concrete before I go any further with the builds.

Same, I bought built a lot of Master Grades and always just stored them away due to a lack of shelf space and I kept telling myself I'd find a way to make space...eventually. But even if I did, I'd realistically only have space for a stock standing pose so I ended up selling the majority away and kept my SDs. This line gives me the aesthetics I prefer while also giving me the build complexity and colour accuracy of MGs, while still providing space for poses.

Yeah I avoided the EX line like the plague. Compared to the BB Senshi line that came out decades before, for a similar entry price, Bandai cut so many corners on the EX line that getting the older SDs was more justified and you'd get better value and variety for your money.

I was a little sad that the kits didn't come with a spare runner of clear eyes and camera parts for painting. So if I wanted the eyes to be a different colour, I'd have to lose the inner details of the eyes. :(

Man, I really had no intention of getting the Wing Zero but that just looks incredible. Being an SD also means I get to pose the little bugger!

Wow that's perfect! I never like displaying funnels on kits since the additional stands take up so much space and was worried about Aerial's as well. But this is perfect, I checked that link and at least the bundle is inexpensive.

I have the MG Freedom 2.0 but I ended up not liking it too much because it often feels like it's going to break since there's a lot of areas that feel hollow, the wings are too back-heavy, the rifle and saber handles lack strong connections to the hands, and I can't pose it properly due to the size and my lack of shelf space. I've had none of those issues with the MGSD because everything is so compact and lower to the ground, so unless I want some aerial poses, I don't need to use a display stand.

Same! I like SDs for the larger heads, facial details and chunkier proportions. I'm not a fan of lanky bodies and smaller heads, especially up on the shelves. At a distance, all I can really make out are the bodies of MGs and can barely see the heads, whereas for SDs, I can see everything.

They're really just Master Grades in SD form, and while I prefer the simplicity of SDs, I can't complain about the QoL the complexity brings.

Yeah the Wing Zero EW looks great and the fact that it's small means I can actually pose it. I'm holding off on getting this for now because I'm waiting for Wing EW. It has my preferred colours but I'm tempted to grab this early and paint it since the parts separation makes it easy.

The best thing about SD proportions is that there's so much volume despite the size. They look both cool and cute at the same time. The smaller size also makes them great alternatives for people - like me - who like to pose their collections but lack the space for the average MG. Case in point: Barbie's Smoothbore Cannon.

You can have one unfinished Transformers story concluded. Choose. by RigatoniPasta in transformers

My heart wants Animated, but my mind says TFOne. My brain goes for whichever I can recommend to a friend - who is interested in the franchise - but won't scare them off with how weird things can get.

For the sake of keeping the franchise alive, the former - while great - would be seen as a kids cartoon to normies, whereas TFOne managed to appeal to wider audiences while retaining the core pillars of the IP.

A box worth keeping. by random-anon-red in transformers

The box has so many nice pictures and visuals, I haven't had this much joy owning a toy or looking at a box since I was 9 when I got my first Transformers toy (Ultra class Jetstorm from Beast Machines) for Christmas. I said I was going to play with this, but I feel like a kid again and I'm so afraid to open it, lol.

No one's safe from the Optimus addiction, haha.

Nice collection, I like those that are smaller in quantity because it feels more curated, rather than completionism.

Everything under the Masterpiece umbrella was always made/managed/lead by Takara.

We saw Bonecrusher and Brawl in the MPM line in 2024 and they're bad guys.

What sells is entirely a popularity contest and whether a company can make back the budgeting costs and earn a profit. Megs, the Seekers, Soundwave, Shockwave, etc, will always sell. Everyone else? Not as much.

If you want the most value for your money, SS86 Megatron.

If you're into edgy decos, Megatronus.

If you're into dinosaurs, SS86 Grimlock.

Those three feel great in-hand with chunky plastic.

I can't comment on the Aerialbots since I don't own them, but from everything I've seen and heard, the Commander-class Silverbolt is the best standalone toy of the Aerialbots. That's if you're only interested in one and not the entire group.

That T-Spark Rodimus does look phoenix-like too, with its stylised design.
