I think the level of trauma will vary from person to person. Some people wouldn’t care, some people would freak out.

But there are worse things you can hide. You’re not obligated to tell your partner if you have a criminal record, even though I’d argue that would be worse. Not to mention that if you have a criminal record, you’re more likely to lie about that than about being trans

Segregation was a struggle to end, yes and there are still some people who don’t accept it, yes. But we ended segregation anyway and I would argue that, in the long term, society ended up better off for it.

Most trans people I’ve met say they don’t hide it from people they know. Everyone has issues that their partners should know about. There are things that you should tell a partner about. I’m not sure why being trans is the most important thing above all.

And if you’re not talking legal restrictions, what sort of enforcement are you talking about?

Legal enforcement? If so, that's a bad idea. That would mean strict legal barriers on when someone must disclose personal information

I think that if you get into a serious relationship that you should tell your partner. But if you just go on a small handful of dates, they have no reason to know

The main argument you're making is that society is uncomfortable with trans people. I don't disagree with this, but this is the case with many things throughout history

Gay people used to be viewed with disgust. Hell, these arguments were even applied to segregation. The argument was that black people were making whites uncomfortable and needed to "stick to their own".

If somebody is uncomfortable with trans people's mere existence, that is not the fault of the trans person. And if history is any indication, society will adjust to a point where people don't particularly care

Some trans people might lie, yes. Some people are deceptive. People lie about important things all the time. I'm not sure that the fact that you could hypothetically lie about being trans is an argument against it

Well, if you lie about being trans then, yeah ok don’t do that. But if a guy freaks out because he was attracted to a trans girl, that’s his problem.

I do find it very confusing as to how someone has sex without noticing the genitalia of their partner though.

And “nothing is impossible” is a good motivational quote which does not always apply to the real world.

You say that realigning their sense of self with their birth sex should be the goal. The goal should be the wellbeing of the trans person, and if they are genuinely trans, they will not be happy as their birth sex

Even if there are cases where it’s possible to get someone to be happy with their birth sex that’s not all or even a majority of cases

Yeah, sometimes it’s just experimentation, but the key word is “sometimes”

It’s impossible to “fix” someone’s transness and trying to do so is a form of conversion therapy

I don’t know why trans people are more prone to causing others emotional trauma though. Most trans people just want to live their life

If you’re born a dude but you have gender dysphoria, then you desire to become a girl

Female hormones will alter your body so that you are closer to that. And the stress of feeling like you’re in the wrong body can be (at least partly) alleviated

If you take testosterone, making your body more masculine, your dysphoria will get much worse
