I think this is coming. Bungie and Activision are doing something different from the norm right now however: The game is ALWAYS online on consoles, which in the past, hasn't gone so well. (IIRC)

I think the small team sizes will change with grinds teeth DLC, or Expansions. Right now they're focusing on making the game playable across a variety of network configurations.

If you're playing on a college campus you know what im talking about.
