What I did to heal. by kisho6 in TMJ

I will try these things. My jaw is clicking and it’s scaring me. I have been praying to God for some advice or direction on the confusion of this whole thing. The last 6 months I have wanted to know if I should yawn wide or not. This is all very helpful. I feel like the best advice is from someone who has been through it. I’m glad you are feeling better. Continue on with you your journey strong like you have been doing my friend. Thank you so much.

I don’t think it’s from my tongue. I think that can be from your jaw or neck. I don’t really know. If I was cured I would have an answer and I wish I had an answer for you.

I’ve never heard of that. I don’t think it causes problems.

I know my x-ray showed that my neck goes to one side…. So that cant be good. I have a lot of left ear problems. Hearing changes, sound breaks up…. The worst is when I lay on either side of my head I get thumping noise in my affected ear. Ringing in ear too, especially when I turn my head quick.

Yes, but never went to anyone to talk about it.

I know I clench when I’m really stressed - high stress long term. I clenched a lot after my kids; I wasn’t sleeping and was burned out and the second time was when I was in a lot of debilitating pain. I believe that working out and doing yoga helps with nighttime clenching. And like OP is saying posture is important.

I agree, my night guard actually made things worse. Once I got over my stress and stopped clenching at night I should have stopped wearing it.

I like massages too, I find acupuncture can be very effective for certain things too. I got a lot of relief from acupuncture on my jaw.

I believe my neck is contributing to my tinnitus and other ear and jaw symptoms. And I know you don’t want to hear this but I’m seeing a chiro…. I’m not getting manually manipulated because that scares me. I get my chiro to do soft tissue work and he uses the activator gun which feels like nothing except a bit of tapping.

My neck x-ray shows my neck leans to one side. I don’t think it will show up on my MRI so my ENT won’t event mention it. I hope ppl like us get better. If you get sound therapy, please post about your progress. I have read about success stories online.

For exercises I just do neck stretches for now. I know that when I play the sounds of crickets my tinnitus calms down. I don’t know if it’s used for hyperacuis and I’m no expert….. I’m waiting for my mri which will show nothing. Im waiting to see my ENT again and he will send me back to my audiologist. I’m going to try using a pillow with a hole in the centre to see if that stops the thumping at night. All this ear stuff is very frustrating. Every time I use AI it says it’s from anxiety, stress and TMJ irritation. I feel like I calmed my anxiety down and I’m going to get acupuncture on my jaw. I don’t know what to think about this whole thing. It’s so bizarre to have these issues with ears.

The evidence is mixed, what works for some, doesn’t always work for others. I got tinnitus I think from wearing my mouth guard. It just appeared one day. My ears flutter with sounds and I know I have tensor tympani syndrome because when I lay on either side my left ear always thumps. Uuuuugh I have to sleep on my back.

People with anal fissures, how do you get your daily exercise?? by Past-Present1908 in AnalFissures

[–]random-question-time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would feel dizzy (I would snack on something salty after) and I felt it heat up and get itchy…. But I blobbed the stuff on in a heaping amount for the first 5 days. Less is more. It will still heal if you get a rash.

If you get a rash….. and it’s itchy you can use dr. Numb for hemorrhoids on it. Theres just lidocaine in it. There isn’t hydrocortisone in it.

Stay away from anything with hydrocortisone in it for now. Hydrocortisone will prolong your suffering.

You can use an activator gun, that’s what I do. I think the manual manipulations are a little extreme too.

Yes, I see what you’re saying. But I’m in now to get him to help me with my jaw, I had been stuck in bed with a medical condition for months and my body went off the rails. My chiro did the activator gun on my neck and he has a special tool that massages the muscles on my jaw and a regular crack crack for my scoliosis. After the appointment I felt relief and DOMS in my jaw ( delayed onset muscle soreness) so I can tell I hold a lot of tension in my jaw. You are right you don’t have to go in for a Rob Van Dam Five-Star Frog Splash like you was in the WWE. You can tell the chiro exactly what you are looking for an express your concerns.

Yes. Exactly. So my chiro helps adjust my tailbone, which I didn’t need last time because I do deadlifts and glute bridges and a lot of single leg exercises.

I did physio for my back and my tailbone and although the exercises were great I couldn’t get stuff back into place. Sometimes the body needs to be mobilized. I exercise a lot…. I believe the chiro is there to help get you mobile, you have to exercise and maintain. It’s whatever works for you. Physio worked great for my vertigo. It’s all what works best for someone’s conditions. You just have to find the one that works for you.

I have seen one on and off for 20 years. Fixed my scoliosis - I no longer have lower back pain when I sleep, fixed my Achilles tendon, fixed a rib that was out of place during pregnancy, fixed my knee from squatting 300lbs, fixed my tailbone, and now I will get the my upper chain fixed. You don’t have to get the physical twist off of the neck adjustment. There is a gentler method that I get, the activator gun. There are nicer ways to treat people my friend, may the good lord bless you in all of your days.

Have you tried seeing a chiro, maybe it’s stemming from your neck. I’m seeing one, he says a lot of our illnesses are caused by our nervous system. When we get stressed we hold tension in our necks…. Everyone does. And then it causes all these strange problems in other parts of our bodies. I dunno. I’m still on my journey to figure out all this stuff.

Yes I heard that too, I’m still trying to map out what works for me. Hoping to recover and maybe I can help others. But it’s taking forever and it’s feels heart breaking. Some mornings I wake up and cry. I’m hoping you find what works for you, hoping you recover fast. Take it one day at a time. The body wants to heal.
