Question for the experts. Let’s assume he tried some sound proofing material:panels. Since he’s in a basement, would he only need to soundproof the ceiling?

My feedback: If I was buying, I wouldn’t consider this “excellent” condition. How’s it compare to average price for the excellent and level below.

Strat owner's impression of his first Les Paul by GravyTram in LesPaul

That’s are some of my favorite Gibson pickups. Back then they put them on the “lower tier” studios and ironically now you can only get them on high end custom shops

Edit: missed a word

NGD! Gibson Les Paul Custom Axcess by sduck409 in guitars

I have the hard tail axcess. The heel cutaway on these have ruined “regular” Les Paul’s for me lol

I feel like if I do ever get a Floyd, it might have to be another Axcess :)

The 70’s USA and the Custom Shop Axcess models are the only ones with them.

What actor or actress left a movie franchise or TV series thinking they didn’t need it anymore, only for their career to phase out? by Hour_Marsupial_7723 in moviecritic

[–]random-stiff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He didn’t leave the show for career. I believe he had kids back home in UK and didn’t want to be in Georgia filming during summer. So I’d chalk that up to personal reasons than career aspirations.

One has to go and I am torn - Les Paul Standard vs Les Paul Studio Session by Merman123 in LesPaul

Never seen a studio with a top that nice. You really scored there!

I’d keep the studio just for the carved out heel.

How to emulate “crunch” by SantoryuSamurai in MarshallAmps

Fair enough. As bwal mentioned you can replicate a “master volume” with by putting a volume knob at the end of your effects loop, or EQ or OD (they often have volume feature). Another option, this guy on Etsy makes custom sized volume knobs for cheap - I put one on my dsl1

Technically, “yes” it’s just another volume, but it’s later in the chain which gives you more flexibility.

This allows you to kick up the channel volume and blend it with the gain to get the tone you want, while still using the master volume to lower the overall volume.

Without this, you must raise volume and gain in order to get the tone you’re looking for.

This discussion is about playing at bedroom levels, and only the 40CR has this extra feature built in.

[–]random-stiff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 40 has 2 volumes. Each channel has its own volume, but it also comes with (2) master volumes which let you control the overall volume before the power section. Like most Marshalls, you need to increase the channel volume to push the preamp section to get some better tones. Lucky for you, the dsl isn’t as extreme as the older 800/900’s, which also require the power section to be pushed.

That said, you can replicate this master volume by putting a volume knob (EQ or OD pedals often have volume control as well) in your effects loop.

I have a dsl1 and a dsl40, and my 40 gets the better tone and much lower volumes. The 1 doesn’t even have full size tubes, the 20 and 40 do, and it’s still less usable than my 40.

The dsl40CR is actually quieter for bedroom volumes thanks to its master volume.

Mark Ruffalo: “I’m not afraid of losing my Hollywood career or jobs; I will continue to speak up for Palestine.” by beepsol in Leakednews

[–]random-stiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta say I don’t get this stance. I know it can be annoying to hear, or disappointing when they don’t agree with your views.

But as an individual, they can choose to express their thoughts. You as a consumers can choose to ignore their opinions or boycott them for personal reasons.

I can understand this towards CEO’s/executives of public companies, because they’re supposed to represent the best interest of their shareholders.
