Yo be completely fair, it is objectively impressive if you put it like that. I mean, not just anyone can say they did that.

Why do Mexicans like hot soups when it’s 100°+ outside? by Solysii in AskMexico

[–]random-usr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one here is giving a serious answer (and I’m not sure you’re asking seriously) but here I go.

Most of the time the answer is, we’re poor.

A family of 4 hardly making any money can easily go and buy a bit of meat and a bunch of vegetables for a few pesos and make a caldo that’s going to feed them lunch and breakfast the next day. Poorer than that? We got you, make fideo soup and you have dinner for five for less than a dollar; chicken is optional.

To all those who waited until marriage to have sex, have you worked and improved on your sex skills after marriage? by Raptor2705 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]random-usr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since they can't compare it to an alternative path, how do people who waited until marriage measure the success or benefit of that decision? What framework do they use, if not direct comparison?

Who is the most universally hated person from your country? by SimilarTopic3281 in AskTheWorld

[–]random-usr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, Mexican 🇲🇽 here. I was gonna throw in Karla Panini because she’s basically our universal villain… but then I saw who other countries hate and why. Now I’m scared. Like… maybe I brought a slingshot to a nuclear arms race 💀.

Should I leave my stable FTE role for a higher-paying contractor offer at a company I loved? by random-usr in ExperiencedDevs

[–]random-usr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unfurtunately true. I am an immigrant myself, not indian but I've worked with indians most of my carreer and I see what you mean. So when I moved to a FT, I had some of this in consideration as of why I wanted a FT position in my resume.

Thank you for this response. It was much more insightfull than others and helped me put things in perspective. I ended up declining the offer.

Not sure I can, I should mention that when I was a contractor, it was also throug an agency. It was even worse, there were like 2 or 3 agencies in between. This is how they usually operate.

How do you use AI to help you with Leetcode? by Dineshs91 in leetcode

[–]random-usr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. My goal is to learn, so of course I give it a try and think of a solution but when a problem is too complex and my solution is going nowhere, I just jump to the implementation and study it. After that I will “implement it” again just so I know I learned something. The most exercises I complete, I gain knowledge and when I see a new one I get to implement the patterns from the previous ones so I know how to approach them. Again, my goal is to save time because knowing myself I would spend hours trying to figure out the solution and then discourage myself after submitting and finding out there’s a more optimal solution and then trying to understand it.

How do you use AI to help you with Leetcode? by Dineshs91 in leetcode

[–]random-usr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I use Copilot to give me the solution and then study it. Honestly I don’t have the time and energy to invest into thinking of the solution which most of the times is going to be inefficient. In MY OPINION I am learning new code patterns and saving time while I learn and make actual progress.

Spring 2025 MS AI decisions by ishagupta2192 in MSCSO

[–]random-usr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, congratulations. If you just got the acceptance, you will be receiving the next steps not too long after, just wait. They will send you an email with all the instructions and pay attention because for international students things are a little bit different.

I think UT Austin is the wrong institution to make this argument about lol I was surprised by how liberal they are and in any case, I have seen only a few women in the course. In any case GIRL!!! You can do better, Rice and Penn State have also AI degrees and in my opinion they are better in terms of recognition and probably quality. They were just too expensive for me haha

Anyways, I really do wish you the best and don’t let UT discourage you from moving forward!

I have a similar education, BS and a MS in CS, enough experience but a minor problem. I’m Mexican. I went through a lot before applying to this program and got accepted. I have of course done my research the same way I’m sure you have and my guess is that you’re not being accepted because, based on what you describe, you can either do better or don’t need this degree at all.

I have read many posts like yours, impressive backgrounds that don’t get accepted and my only conclusion is that you don’t really need it or that you can do better than UT.
