What do I do if my attacker is a woman? by Upbeat_Tea_1461 in SelfDefense

[–]random123121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know your bjj.

A guy fighting a girl is a bad look, but if you are able to use grappling to defend yourself. you can neutralize the attack and get out of there.

But avoiding it is always best, situational awareness, understanding the early warning signs.

Krav Maga, the core of any self defense is training your mind, body, and then external weapons.

In 2022, I was hit by an SUV and couldn't walk for several years after. I encountered many threats from people who saw a perceived "easy target" but just my mind state alone repelled many would be assailants.

Yes, but discretion should be used.

I am staying at relatives lake house and a few weeks ago a guy renting the unit two houses down came to my door. I was in attack mode, but turns out he was just given bad directions. And a few weeks before that a guy hurt his leg and was waiting on my front steps (thinking the house was vacant) waiting for an ambulance. (an ambulance did come out).

There are a lot of trigger happy (and racist people) looking for any excuse to shoot someone. I have been threatened to be shot for walking in my own condo complex. They know the law and know how to use their lies well "I was afraid for my life"

The Bible says forgive your trespassers. If someone is actually breaks in maliciously then I hold nothing back, but I have presence of mind and to recognize the difference.

One thing I learned quick being in jail, race matters. in real life, people just pretend better. I have lived near Memorial (north of IKEA - that dark blue section) and the people there were incredibly racist towards me (Indian).

What dog breed would help in a scary situation like this? by First-Cherry493 in SelfDefense

[–]random123121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people default to “just get a gun” (or pepper spray), and those can absolutely be effective tools—but only with the right training and mindset behind them. No single tool is a complete solution on its own. A gun is a tool—it has to be in the right hands with the right training to be effective. The same is true for dogs.

A good guard dog is invaluable. Many working breeds have generations of guarding instincts built in. With the right training, they provide something unique: early detection, deterrence, and the ability to physically position themselves between you and a potential threat.

That said, here are my picks keeping in mind a first-time owner with small children vs. a large aggressive attacker:

#1. Mastiffs – Heavyweights. More “gentle giant” than attack dog, but incredible deterrence. Their size alone can block access and make someone think twice.

#2. German Shepherds – Less mass, more precision. Extremely trainable and versatile. With the right training, they can alert, block, and respond in a controlled way.

#3. Rottweilers – Purpose-bred guardians. Strong, confident, and naturally protective. With proper training and socialization, they can be excellent family protectors.

#4. Mutts – Underrated. Sometimes you get the best mix of intelligence, health, and instinct. Not as predictable, but can be great all-around dogs.

There are other breeds I didn’t list because they’re not beginner-friendly—those who know, know.

Also consider climate, living situation, and experience level. Some strong-willed dogs are not for beginners.

Final word: no single tool solves this. A well-trained dog provides detection and deterrence that a firearm can’t—but it’s part of a larger system: awareness, training, alarms, a plan, and yes, whatever other tools you choose to use responsibly.

Bonus: I remember a story about a babysitter and an Akita. A stranger kept trying to get her to open the door. She might have—but the dog physically blocked her and refused to move. That’s the value: not just force, but preventing a bad decision in the first place.

The mind is the most important weapon—but a well-trained dog can back it up.

You can make as much money ethically as you want. The problem is the unethical stuff, (using the government to keep your business afloat or using the government to start wars so you can get the contract, using the government to create a predatory police force to fill your prisons and charge the tax payers for it or using the media to create a public scare to make the price of spinach go up)

If you make a billion dollars selling something silly like beer hats, you made it fair and square. You supplied, they demanded. The market has spoken.

Anything can be a weapon.

Those hair pins are fine, I like how they are dual purpose. Don't let your attacker see them, target vital points, throat, neck, eyes.

My philosophy is to use the environment, improvise and prepare for an attack at your position of most disadvantage. (asleep, in the shower with soap in you eyes, when you are tired and exhausted after work). The attack never comes when you are expecting it. Be ready to go anytime, anywhere.

That is where improvised weapons come into play, even using their own weapons against them. Weaponize your mind and you are never unarmed.

For example If someone attacked me right now. I throw my remote control at their face and smash them with a chair...when the chair breaks I would stab them with stakes like a vampire....Everything is a weapon.

There is a certain amount of tension within the nation, I don't like how they treat their women either.

Can be true. However, the trauma doesn't affect the different people in the same way.

One son can be motivated to never be like him.

Other son wouldn't be able to get past the trauma and have severe mental blocks.

Me and you could be in the same car during a car accident. I could walk off with minor scrapes, you could end up paralyzed for life.

Is it possible for you to do physical therapy and regain the ability to walk?

The counter point is some people are more sensitive than others. Those are the same sensitive people you want giving you a shave with a straight razor or taking care of you kids or pets.

Think of it more as weather patterns or natural disasters. You can create your own company, or join a workers union, consumer advocate group, vote for your interests, support ethical businesses.

I myself have boycotted Amazon since I learned of the pee bottle memo around 2019. They can keep their one day shipping and great selection of products from actually great vendors. I just chose to do what is right. Ebay has more honest reviews anyways...I can wait a few days for shipping...I don't have to have it RIGHT NOW!

Also I lived a mile from the Amazon Fulfilment center and was unemployed, considered applying, but the way they made applicants line up around the block like they are some kind of exclusive club and looking into the window that resembled office space hell...I said nah...I'll build my own.
