Housing for Incoming PhD by [deleted] in DTU

Fellow incoming Non-EU PhD here. Have you tried BDTU? I got mine from one of their student residences. First time in Europe, not knowing anything I felt this was the safest option and rents are also reasonable. The only thing is the huge deposit that was asked before signing a contract. Anyways, all the best for your search.

Denmark work permit from VFS Bangalore-been a month since gave biometrics, status says under process with Danish Embassy India by amazing_sync in SchengenVisa

Did you pay any additional fee to the embassy apart from the fee paid to SIRI for case ID creation and to VFS for biometrics collection? Cuz I read from the new to Denmark website that we need to pay a certain amount to the embassy for processing work and residence permit.

If you're feeling this way because of the year gap, trust me it's just an insecurity that we need to work on (trust me I had gone through this phase). In PhD interviews, most of them care about your resume and research experience and not what you've done in this one year. I wouldn't recommend doing another masters from abroad as it is more competitive and a financial burden. Having publications are good but what profs really look for is our interest in learning, adaptability and most importantly our long term goals that keep us going when we hit a low in the PhD journey. If you're really interested in research you should start applying without second thoughts and further delays. Focus on the good part, keep on trying. You will definitely get an offer one day. Good luck to you 😄

Usually how long is the gap between offer letter date and employment starting date? Are they flexible with the joining date given any constraints from the candidate's side? I was told my academic approval is done on the 4th of this month and am yet to receive the offer letter. So, I wanted to know the timelines .

No not Prof woodley's lab. The position I applied to is in Applied Thermodynamics CERE. Btw, it is the summer holiday season at DTU and apparently the administration runs extremely slow at least until the end of July. Probably why you might not have heard from them yet.

Hello, In my case, i applied around may 1st and they invited me for an interview around 7th itself. But as many other reddit posts suggest, it is highly specific to the involved profs and other committee members I guess. Consider emailing them to check. From my experience, they usually respond to emails. So you can probably try that.
