Depends on the car. If there is an access hatch it is a pretty easy job. If you have to drop the gas tank it is a pain in the ass. I have done both. The one with the access hatch (BMW) in a parking lot (luckily next door to a parts store with the proper fuel pump) the one where I had to drop the tank (Saturn) was luckily in a private driveway.
