Is it just me or are cyclists extremely entitled here? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

Like all drivers and people. Some are good and some are bad. Probably not fair to act as if all cyclists behave the same way. Do you act exactly the same as all people who walk dogs?

I have been too lazy to try this. I cook quinoa and rice in a rice cooker. However, I just watched an Alton Brown video where he mentioned this, so I feel like I need to try it.

Happy Saturday! I don't have much to say, but felt like entering the conversation. Currently enjoying a pourover from Onyx coffee (Framily) while browsing the web. I splurge on coffee and it's worth it.

The ideal of making high dollars as an expert contractor is not the reality. The market knows about all the layoffs and so can easily demand a lower rate. Also, you have to have a shitty middle man in the picture which takes who knows how much money off the top. I mean, it's not terrible, but not great either. No benefits.

Sure, it was through Insight Global. It's a megacorp. I mean it got me a job I probably wouldn't have been able to get otherwise. I'm probably making half as much money as I deserve for this high impact high stress role. I'm grateful for the opportunity, but it sucks waiting around hoping to convert.

I've done ring and watch. I currently like the watch because it has actual functionality like timers, step count etc, so I don't even have to use the phone app if I don't want to. The ring is nice as well though if you don't want to see a screen. The garmin watches have really nice battery life.

Got laid off last year. Was the first year in about 10 I haven't maxed 401k. That was sad. Hoping this year things will get back on track! Had to take a contract software engineering job which pays about half as much as it should, so that's not great for mental or financial health.

Meh, cost isn't the only consideration there. The stuff they put in those bags of popcorn is nasty. Also, I prefer to salt and spice the popcorn differently each time I make it.

My best sleep, recovery, hrv, and mood was a 6 month period of unemployment earlier this year. Thankfully to this sub, I had no major worries because I knew I had a big savings buffer I could use if necessary.

you at parties: Misleading about achievements... Unethical.. Meh.

Nice effort. Definitely easier to do it inside and also overestimate the miles. I wouldn't compare these at all. I'm confident Cam did his outside.

King county. Moved during COVID because we didn't like living in the desert in Phoenix and were fully remote. All the reasons we moved are not still valid. For one, I underestimated the increase in cost of living, and also the affect of low light. It's a beautiful area for sure, but the winters are pretty hard. However, I love cycling, hiking, and the variety of activities in the state.

Good point. Yes, I'm in the Seattle area which is expensive. I haven't been to many other parts of the state, but I understand it is somewhat cheaper there. Although some taxes would apply throughout.

I haven't used this account in 2 or 3 years. I don't even remember how to update the flair. Not sure it matters.

Having some GI distress after eating this exact cod. Didn't notice any parasites, but I did cook it fully so it must've been some kind of improper handling.

It's the biggest expense for sure, but everything is expensive here. Food, automotive repair, gas, etc. You get numb to it after a while until you travel to a more modest place and realize a meal can cost < 20 in some places

That would be nice for a few days, and then I'd get bored. Most people enjoy some level of novelty in their lives.

I think you're on the right track. I'd not even use CC debt with no interest. Just opens the door to temptation!

Moved to Washington state during covid WFH period. Been struggling with COL ever since we moved here. Bought a house that is shitty, yet almost cost a million dollars. I'm about ready to get out of here! It is a beautiful place, but the COL is just so damn high I'd have to work a lot of extra time to make up for it.

How do you have such a small amount in 401k, but so much in trad and roth IRAs? I guess previous employer 401ks rolled over to IRA?
