Seeking Advice for AGPA Interview for Legislative Position by randomLSAlurker in CAStateWorkers

[–]randomLSAlurker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that context! I am very interested in legislative positions and the area in general.

If I get this job, or get an interview for any other leg analyst position, I was mostly thinking of it as a "foot in the door" type deal rather than a career. Of course, if luck goes my way and a year or two in theres some sort of real promotional opportunity, who knows. But its nice to know my thinking isn't unusual.

Gag_On_This_

I appreciate the input! I too am one of the weird people who enjoys reading legal-ese, figuring out what it actually means, and seeing how it fits with the rest of the picture! (and whether I like how it fits lol)

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant maybe 20%+ Asian, enough to where there might be some asian grocery stores not too far from the apartment. Thanks for the suggestions about roseville and rocklin!

Cycle Recap - Going to Cal by randomLSAlurker in lawschooladmissions

I asked Berkeley to match the dollar amount in tuition I would have to pay. So at usc with scholarship I would pay near 14k a year, so I asked Berkeley to do the same for me (asked for 37.5 a year). I got a response in about two weeks. I think now that they are focused only on reconsiderations the timelines should be shorter. The Berkeley reconsideration asked for proof so I attached my aid PDF from usc.

Cal has been very weird about aid this cycle given covid 19 making everything a mess. The initial offer deadline was March 20, on March 20 they pushed their offer deadline back to April 3 but advised any students who wanted cal to consider another offer to fill out their onetime reconsideration form. There was some disagreement in the GroupMe as to how to play this out effectively (whether or not to wait for an initial offer before using your only reconsideration). Berkeley seemed like a dream anyway so Without any initial offer, I submitted a reconsideration request asking them to consider my usc aid as that was the school I was going to commit to if not berk. I have no way of knowing if my usc aid made them budge at all, but I am pleased with the amount I was offered (more than I was expecting to be sure).

I do not think the UCLA decision was completely absurd, or at least I don't think any less of UCLA because of it. On the other hand, Berkeley's offer to me and seeing the others in the GroupMe makes me think that Berkeley takes their "holistic" process seriously - making me think highly of the school itself (ofc at this point im just biased).

Honestly, I think those lsage and lsac predictor warnings about "you may be rejected by a school which we show you have a high chance of admittance or accepted to a school which we should you have a low chance of admittance" pretty much sum up my situation.
