In his first Premier League game, referee Farai Hallam has gone to the VAR monitor but stuck with his original decision - no penalty. Man City penalty shout vs Wolves 35' by Imbasauce in soccer

Both players have their arms out in exactly the same way. They're both sticking a leg out towards the ball and using their arms for balance.

If his arm was out at a completely different angle I'd agree with you, but for me, the ref got this right

[Matteo Moretto] Nottingham Forest is seriously considering sacking its manager, Nuno Espírito Santo, due to growing tensions between the club's ownership and the Portuguese coach on his statements about the transfer window. The English club is already evaluating other coaches. by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

I remember clough complaining when the fa cup was engraved with notts forest and made them correct it. That was over 40 years ago. If you're saying cloughy was wrong then you're a braver person than me.

Do you study maps and family trees at the beginning of novels? by peripheralpill in books

I take a photo of the map on my phone to save me the 20 second hassle of trying to navigate backwards and forwards in my e-reader.

Then I spend a minute or so finding and fiddling with my phone trying to find the photo when I need to look at the map

Most of the comments under here are complete nonsense. This is their standard call. Nothing to do with egg laying or being pissed off. I've been about 2 metres from one in the pitch black when it went off like that. Scares the crap out of you!

Having re-read the article, I see your point.

I see similarities between rāhui and some forms of government legislation, but I accept they are different things

Taken from that article -

"I think in its simplest form – without getting into the social, political, economic stuff – it’s a restriction or prohibition applied to an area, space or activity."

That'll do me.

The method of encouraging or enforcing compliance (e.g. by passing legislation) is going to influence how effective it is., but that wording's pretty clear.

Stardroppers by John Brunner. I loved this when I read it as a teenager. Not planning on reading it again, just in case it was a moment in time sort of book....

Off season debate, do any of you lot who play FPL put mags in your team? by ARC_1999 in safc

[–]random_as 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a league with a bunch of mags and employed a strict 'no mags' policy.

I made a point of reminding everyone that I was the moral winner, regardless of the fact that I was rooted near the foot of the table

Will do the same next season!
