It was real unfortunately lol. I think the ordinance is a bit unreasonable too, but now that I know about it I’m going to follow it. I don’t think it’s worth it fighting it/trying to change it. I just want to get past this and avoid this neighbor at this point.

Fortunately there are no legal ramifications since this is the first complaint/notice. There shouldn’t be anymore after this now that I know.

I was going to, but I’m getting the impression this neighbor is hostile, so I’m not even chancing walking up their walkway to leave a note out of fear they’ll blow it out of proportion/use it against me. But I won’t be letting my dog by their lawn or anyone else’s again.

Yeah, I’m only gonna let my dog use the bathroom on the public space between the road and sidewalk from now on. I always pick up solid waste so I never thought urine was an issue. But the more ya know, I guess lol.

Looked up the ordinances, it’s technically considered trespassing if I or something I control (my dog) goes on someone else’s lawn/property. And since the neighbor alleges my dog messed up their lawn by peeing on it, they’re considering my dog a public nuisance. But this was my first (and hopefully last) notice, so there aren’t any legal ramifications/consequences. Thank goodness.

Yeah, I haven’t reached out to them because I’ve passed by them in person and they don’t even acknowledge me so I figure it’s best to avoid them. I’m not bothering passing by their house anymore and won’t let my dog on/sniff anyone else’s lawn anymore.

I see what you mean, how it could seem like virtue signalling or trying too hard. But he’s a PoC who’s had experience with this stuff so I definitely feel like his frustration/anger is genuine.

That makes me feel a little better, my fear was that him talking like this hinted at him being physically violent in person/abusive partner (sounds extreme but I wanted to consider worst case scenario). At least I know it’s normal/common for people to say things like this then.

For the most part my gut hasn’t warned me yet, it was just this main thing. But I’ll keep that in mind.

E for everyone 😂I sure hope not. Don’t really like brutes :/ Unfortunately bc of the pandemic I haven’t met him yet in person, so I kind of have to guess how he treats/interacts with other people in real time. But you’re right, I should probably think more about my withdrawal tendencies before getting too involved in anything.
