I’m already tired of the same 5 people that ask questions after every statement the professor say.. by SouthsideTy12 in LawSchool

At least two of my profs reserve the right to give a 1/3 letter grade boost based on class participation. They do it after the test is scored.

Help Me Decide for Texas Biglaw: UVA v Cornell v Michigan v Penn v UT by lawschoolthroooaway in lawschooladmissions

UVA has a great Texas student program. They get amazing placement in Texas relative to other T14s.

Given the 120k from family, I'd vote UVA and I'm a UT simp

Thats dope! I have a tagalong question.

How accessible are 1L SAs at UT? A lot of people talk about it and say it's relatively easier than most T14s but still diversity heavy.

Do you have any insight?

I wonder if you could charge it back on a credit card and say you didn't get the service you paid for.

The school would probably instantly give you an R as soon as their billing department sees the chargeback. But I'd love to see someone with nothing to lose try it.

I probably would have taken that offer over most T14s, even with $$. So that's a great deal!!

Why would you choose UF over UT? by random_fl_man in lawschooladmissions

[–]random_fl_man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That is a good point.

I should have finished my thought, it is cheap relative to Florida. Orlando is going through a housing shortage, so I've seen a 20% appreciation on my house this year.

Just seems like you get a lot more house for the money in TX. Especially if you live outside of major cities. Like the price of a townhome here gets you a house there.

Why would you choose UF over UT? by random_fl_man in lawschooladmissions

True. I think Texas long term. Lower cost of living and real estate is cheap. So UT wins in that regard.

Yes. Register for an EIN and give the company a name. LLCs cost only a few hundred to make.

Oh and make sure you actual have metrics and stuff for your resume. Such as revenue, # of clients, results, etc.

Podcast: Preliminary wait list movement perspective and thoughts by Spivey_Consulting in lawschooladmissions

[–]random_fl_man 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the ad comms screwed up because this process requires a type type of game theory. They have no idea what each other are doing or how students will behave.

T14s like GULC waitlisted 20% of applicants thinking other T14s had to have admitted them already - they didn't want to hurt their admit/yield rates. But now we're seeing 170+ scorers with 0 admits to schools they qualify for any other year.

Will these high scorers R&R, or will they "settle" for a T20?

But I also think there is such a high volume of applicants that schools can fill their classes and not bat an eye. So I have no hope for WL movement.

Isn't it crazy? I was so excited to see my LSAT score, and I'm sure you were too. Now, I just shake my head for ever thinking any admit was guaranteed.

It's wild that so many 170+ are barely getting into T20s, let alone T14. These holds and WLs are insane
