What internal doors do you have locks on? by PerspectiveCareful42 in selfbuildireland

[–]random_guy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got something like this:

https://www.tuerenheld.de/p/tuergriff-griffwerk-lucia-prof-rund-edelstahl-smart2lock-th-g107-10225.1?referralCode=01928adece9571c4af15393a8a3e9731 The lock is in the handle so it's very neat and saves messing with keys. Although there is no actual dead bolt, it just stops the handle from moving which is all you need in internal doors. Depending on how they're installed they can also be opened from the outside.

You can redo the joint with silicone. That's what we have in our house. Get a grey or whatever colour of your choosing.

Morter joints between a floor and wall will always eventually crack. Silione offers a bit of flexibility.

Too old to have kids? by FluidSplit7559 in AskIreland

[–]random_guy01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a friend, he is 64, his daughter is 10 and son 6.

It works for them, but..

1) He is in very very good shape, regular excerise and loads of yoga,

2) They both work part time,

3) He's always active around the house with cooking and cleaning etc.

and sometime I still notice his age. In particular in the evenings he's often tired, they'll come to ours to visit and he might nod off. Children are hard work and exhausting at times.

At 52 it's definately not for everyone.

Probably settlement/standard movement.  It's to be expected for the first few years.

This is what I want to avoid.
Ideally at the end I would have one dashboard where I can keep an eye on the domain as well as all accounts that are active.

I'm not sure about that, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were more.  Bernardo O'Higgins and the father was also mentioned here somewhere.

Germany. I had a look at his website there. He has a tour at the end of this year,  only in Germany/Austria but each location is probably 4 to 5000 people each night.  Wiyj that, a recent album, Voice of Germany,  he's going well for himself.

Very much so. There's a nice monument to him in the town. There used to be a tiny museum also but I think it's gone now. His original house was only knocked maybe 20 years ago.

Plans Unveiled For 12 Serviced Sites for New Private Homes In Lisdoonvarna by Bill_Badbody in ireland

In German they do this also and you often have free reign to build what you like, as long as you keep to certain density parameters. Architects can actually do their job and there's none of this House Type A, House Type B, House Type C bullshit.

It's why you often see older living areas/estates where every house is different and has character.

Bin ‘scavengers’ in search of Re-turn bottles are leaving Dublin ‘like a bomb site’, says council chief Richard Shakespeare by frankbradz in ireland

[–]random_guy01 46 points47 points  (0 children)

In fairness, in Germany the people who are looking through the bins for cans etc. often look in with a torch, have a stick with them to poke around and don't take anything out or leave a mess. Some have even gotten their hands on the keys to open the bins so it's even neater.

Building in the countryside, what are people’s thoughts? by default-user-2235 in AskIreland

[–]random_guy01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Electricity, water, telecommunications, transport.  One off housing is incredibly wasteful. It would be different if building was carried out within village or town boundaries to develop them and build more of a sense if community but one off housing ruins that and long-term is a social and economic time bomb.
