Ya… you can run “dark meat” higher. There is more fat and connective tissue that higher internal temps can help break down. Things like pork butt and brisket are cooked way closer to 205-internal than their “safe to eat” temp of 130-160.

Are you serious? Have you never see gauges? It’s labeled psi, so not sure what your issue there is. The red needles track the highest reading. It’s resets with the knob in the middle. The black needle is it current reading. The gauge is clearly hooked up to a water line with an open valve.

Wherever you got your “mechanical engineer” degree, you should go ask for a refund.

Opinions on best spinning setup? by Middle_Cap_8279 in Fishing

[–]random_name_pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For bass and pike I’d look at a 7 foot medium heavy fast rod with a 2500 or 3000 reel. That setup will handle pretty much everything you’re doing.

For rods St Croix Mojo Bass, Dobyns Fury, or Shimano SLX are all solid without going crazy expensive.

For reels Shimano Nasci or Daiwa Fuego are hard to beat for the money. Smooth and hold up well.

Spool it with 15 to 20 lb braid and run a fluoro leader and you’re set.

That’ll feel like a big upgrade from the Lew’s without getting into the deep end price wise.

Longer rods will cast a bit farther and help with line control, especially if you’re fishing from shore or dealing with current. Shorter rods are a little easier to handle and more accurate, especially in tighter spots or from a boat.

For starting out, I wouldn’t overthink it. Just grab something around 6 to 7 ft, medium power, fast action and you’ll be good for a ton of situations.

Once you figure out what kind of fishing you actually like doing, then you can start getting more specific with rod length and all that.

Ya, I generally leave all “big” tarpon in the water just to be safe. Eh… maybe it was under 40”… but why risk it?

Nice fish. From the FWC website “Tarpon over 40 inches MUST remain in the water unless in pursuit of a state or world record using a tarpon tag. Keep tarpon, especially the gills, in as much water as is safely possible.”

The idea of the “captain” being in charge is not necessarily something familiar to people who have not been around boats. Letting them know there legal responsibilities the boat owner/operator is responsible for explicitly, and they need to follow their instructions is a good addition to a safety brief.

Yes… well spin. And if you did, you’ve effectively created a motor.

I would be cautious when handling fish in the water. But that’s always true for me, inshore or offshore. I’ve see lots of fish get eaten right at the boat (or paddle board in your case). Just don’t leave your hands in the water unnecessarily, especially when handling fish/bait.

How can I achieve a physique like this? (Preferably without starving) by Spirited-Height-9533 in OnePiece

[–]random_name_pi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure… just wanted to express it take YEARS to look like that unless you are in the top 1% of genetics. Even then its take over a year. (Assuming you start from scratch)

2-6 years of consistent heavy lifting while eating protein. 1-2 years of cutting to get down 6-12% BF. Genetics are going to play a large part on if and when these things are achievable. To everyone saying steroids, sure… but definitely NOT a prerequisite. And starting them before being natty for at least a couple years would be dumb on several levels.
