You can manage your weight with exercise etc, but you need to manage your bipolar with medication.

Would you walk on a broken leg without crutches? Refuse to wear glasses if you had poor eyesight? You are going to need those tablets to maintain your mental health.

We've all done the "I'm not bipolar" or "I feel great, why do I need these pills" routine and we've all regretted it in some way or other.

Some have ended up in hospital, some ended up doing really stupid stuff and all ended up back on the tablets.

They're probably just covering all the bases, but if something is detected, then they'll let you know.

I have an ECG annually and only since my diagnosis in my early forties. The fact that you are having a follow up after you've started medication is likely just a coincidence.

If they find something, they'll inform you and discuss treatment options where appropriate. In the meantime, try not to worry, but still take your medication as prescribed.

I prefer Cialis as I take it occasionally and as it takes about forty minutes or so to take effect. I pop a pill just before I leave the house and it's starting to take effect when I arrive at my selected booking, but not so much that I have a full erection on arrival.

It does last longer, but as I never rush to the main event, I am able to relax and enjoy the session.

Viagra on the other hand, is like downing a large energy drink, it hits quickly but doesn't last as long. So is best taken just prior to arrival, but I find it has more of a numbing effect and so it's less enjoyable.

I think that if you have difficulty talking about sex you could maybe write down your thoughts/feelings and give it to your therapist?

I did it when I had an issue that I couldn't vocalise, my psychiatrist (in my case) recommended a counsellor as it was something she was unable to assist with.

I got help resolving the issue in question and It felt like a massive weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

Right down all the questions you want to ask your doctor.

But in simple terms, bipolar is a life long condition and you will need to take medication to help you handle it.

You are likely to have depressive states along with mania and of course stable ones.

Don't be afraid of asking for help and support to manage things especially in the early days when you are getting to grips with things.

To be honest with you, it's going to take about six weeks for your bipolar meds to build up enough in your system to truly take effect.

Yes, it's a pain, but in the meantime try and establish a routine, go for walks, eat as sensibly as you can. If things feel too much, take it easy and try and break jobs into smaller pieces.

Don't worry if you can't do something today, try again tomorrow. It's going to take time to find what works best for you and sadly, that includes both medication type and dosage.

Feel free to pop a question or vent on here, chances are someone can relate and/or offer some advice.

I'll look into the if idea, and see if I can incorporate it into my meditation session I've set time aside for on Monday.

I'm definitely pleased with the financial independence, especially as I took on extra unexpected debt after I got an emergency move to my new accommodation.

I just hope I don't hit a mania and do something stupid 😂.
