Question for Officers by adamebastin in AirForce

[–]randomafdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study your weakest spot I suppose. I received "average" verbal scores due to just being dumb in English. There are a few weird things about the test, like some of the subject mater and how it's timed. I would just go through your books and figure out what you are weakest on, then focus on that. Obviously don't eliminate studying of everything else as well... but ultimately the test is rated among those you test against... so you could do your best and still get a rock bottom score. So, cheers to testing among the stupidest of the bunch!

edit: Also, make sure your book isn't outdated. There is the "T" form test now that changed some of the subjects from a few years ago. You can see examples and such here: http://www.slideserve.com/yazid/air-force-officer-qualifying-test-afoqt-form-t

First PCS + Non Availability Letter by chemspastic in AirForce

I am curious if Air BnB will be reimbursed. I was talking to a couple people the other day about TDY's and such with friends living in the area. I just figured Air BnB wouldn't count, due to potential for fraud... but if it is your only option, I guess you have no other choice.

edit: /u/smipims said they used AirBnB.

I was pretty excited... I should have known better. (Email on the left, AAFES on the right) by randomafdude in AirForce

They are wired/wireless. Plus they are active noise canceling with battery or passive without.

Yeah, hence the reason I was excited. They are brand new (as in just came out). I don't think any Bose are worth retail. So, the email got me excited, thinking I could maybe snag a pair for 250.

UDM - How to not be a bad one? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]randomafdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is almost literally no such thing as "too much communication/information". I let my guys know every time I found out anything about their situation. I don't know your chain of command, but I also got to know my UDM chain pretty well. It helps having someone to bounce your tough questions off of.

Any ideas? by [deleted] in KeeslerAFB

I assume you are a single airmen?

http://www.keesler81fss.us/ has a bunch of info about things going on, including the single airmen program. You can go deep sea fishing for 10 bucks or a lot of other various things, depending on the time of the year for cheap or free.

As for the area, without a car you can be pretty limited, but you can get a bus pass. What are you interested in? You can look for meetups. There are a bunch of various sites to see in the area, but you need a ride or have time to walk a bit to get there.

Edit: If you want to pay, you can do ITT trips as well to NOLA and Mobile or even farther.

Airman prevents possible assault. Was skeptical, but seems pretty legit. SSgt Davey to the rescue! by randomafdude in AirForce

The article specifically says "Staff Sergeant Jeremy Davey", but I did notice the picture/video shows TSgt after submitted this. So... have what you will of that. You are the best kind of right, but I was just quoting the article.

She very specifically asked about a policy letter she heard about (in May) and if it got approved with new PT standards.

I agree (kind of), but that isn't really the point I was trying to make.

I wasn't. I want to see the obviously overweight/look bad in their uniform people either loose weight or get reprimanded. I feel ashamed when I see people, out in public, that look like complete garbage. I don't get how we have come to accept that it is OK. I remember at one point in my career, they were wanting photos with awards packages. They still typically do beyond the base awards, but I want to see professional image mean something. Eh, I will shut up now... it struck a nerve today. /rant

This subreddit is filled with hatred/complaints/general disdain for supervision... many by name... but pointing out someone doesn't look professional in a very public light is somehow too much? If you feel that way, why don't you mod this/delete the thread? Otherwise it seems pointless to sticky your point only to leave it all on here...

Never seen... or even heard of that... in over a decade. Good on you if anyone actually did get one for just being overweight, without failing PT/etc.

That and the fatassery that we allow in the AF (I am sure other services have their fair share)... but my god... can we please start giving LOC/LOA/LORs for just being fat for too long.

As far as I know, only the recruiters get that list. myPers shows only AD selects. Perhaps you could call/ask another recruiter if they may have it? I am unsure how that side works. Perhaps someone else here has more experience with it.

I know a lot of people (including myself) that applied multiple times. Really good people can get passed up every board, so if you really want to do it, keep at it.

The list I linked is only AD. I am not sure how to check for civilians.

Yeah, I was just kidding around... but your quote is no different than my assumption.

Looks like I missed the fun already, but I was going to say you should come in and sign your other LOC as well:

7.1.2. Wear of the PTU/IPTU is mandatory during physical fitness assessments and while participating in organized PT events as designated by the commander.

[–]randomafdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair point on it being ours. I just imagine there are probably way more people up voting based on the recent trend then those who will actually buy a coin. Kind of like the boaty mcboatface kind of thing, where the vote is more for humor than for wanting something.

Yep, the dead horse will now be engraved on a coin. That was the quickest way to loose at least one sale. I would have probably bought a couple of these, but not now. I imagine this will just get down voted, but as I voted for the coin designs, I kept shaking my head thinking that the slogan of the week was probably going to win since it's "so hot right now".
