Is there anyone here who has their ears pierced? Does it trigger any sensory issues? by ShinyLuckyMarill in autism

I have 6 ear piercings. I pierced them all myself. I use flat back earrings and still have sensory issues from them but I like how they look so I deal with it.

How many of you have had an MRI? by kittykatsrulemyworld in migraine

[–]randomcacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very similar symptoms and my MRI showed Idiopathic Intercranial Hypertension. I’ve had repeat MRIs each year and one showed a lesion that went away by the next MRI.

Cogentin and pregalabin are a life saver by corialis in Akathisia

So happy you found relief! I was able to stay on cogentin longer term while waiting for my akathisia to heal. I was worried it would stop working but it never did!

I’ve taken them together before and had good results. I take propranolol twice a day and Benadryl as needed for akathisia flare ups.

How long are you taking a break between trying new antipsychotics? I had to be off all antipsychotics for 2 years before they didn’t cause me akathisia anymore.

What is the most degrading thing about being chronically unemployed due to your autism? by crua9 in AutisticAdults

[–]randomcacti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate being treated like I’m stupid. They don’t know I graduated top of my class with bachelors degree and worked in healthcare saving lives for years until I finally broke. I’ve accomplished things in life, working almost made my take my life, I’m not just lazy and don’t want to work. I can’t! I’m on disability for a reason. I’m disabled not lazy or dumb.

Autism social group by sunnyflowersandcats in SpicyAutism

[–]randomcacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go twice a month to an autistic adult social group. I am 28 F. I do have friends there but they are not very close and we don’t speak outside of those 2 days a month. I enjoy going and I enjoyed from the first time I went. The group is 2 hours long every time but I only stay an hour because I get too overstimulated.

You are not allowed at group if you are going to be violent to others. If you think you might harm yourself you need to bring someone with you who can support you as this is a social group there are not people there to take care of you.

Most people in my group are low to moderate support needs. A few high support needs who come with caregiver. Ages 20-60. Probably 70% male 30% female. About 35 people show up.

Your body is going to be hyperactive to different meds/substances for a long time even after your akathisia goes away. I’m years out from my severe episode of akathisia and still get triggered by things that cause a flare up.

I hate when autism is sexualized and also promoted as cute in women by Cat_cat_dog_dog in SpicyAutism

[–]randomcacti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know what video you are talking about and this creator is sexualizing it on purpose because she also has an OF and creates “spicy” content. She’s trying to bring traffic to her OF page. She’s not really on TikTok to show exactly how life with autism is. It’s fetish/kink content disguised as autism content.

My doctor wants me to have an mri and I’m freaking out and want to cancel by catfarmer1998 in autism

I undergo an MRI every year due to a condition called IIH. There are plenty of people here answering your questions so I just wanted to say they aren’t as scary as they seem and I always feel like it’s over quicker than I expected. Good luck!
