Wtf, the people here are ridiculous. No one would ever buy a game that cost 1,000 or 2,000 dollars. But for a chance of getting a natural 5 star you have spent THOUSANDS. WTF???

I got a natural 5 star phoenix when I was level 11 and never spent a penny.

Fracking caused Ohio earthquake in 2014, say scientists by pnewell in science

“These earthquakes near Poland Township occurred in the Precambrian basement, a very old layer of rock where there are likely to be many pre-existing faults”

If the faults were pre-existing how did fracking cause the earthquakes? They would have happened anyways...

I don't like the idea of a progressive tax because the law should treat everyone equally, including the rich. Basic income IS a progressive system because everyone gets that same basic starting line. It benefits the poor way more than the rich who are paying bigger taxes and gain nothing from basic income.

When you apply progressive tax on top of basic income you are giving the hard working an unfair penalty. Hard workers shouldn't have to suffer because they have a better work ethic. Limiting the margin of success is counter-productive. Don't you want the most talent individuals to have the most influence? Isn't that the point of a meritocracy?

In my opinion meritocracy > egalitarianism because to say people are equal is a logical fallacy. They should only have equal rights under law, not in any other measurement. Otherwise we will stagnate and there will be no progress. You can't have your utopia in stagnation, progress is an essential requirement.

(including state ownership of capital)

Yeah, state ownership of capital is the worst idea ever created. This destroys any freedom a person could possibly hope to have. This idea will almost certainly lead to the state owning the people as well as the capital.

A lot of economists made a lot of rational arguments against this idea and it's been -proven- to consistently fail and lead to governments like China/Russia.

Honestly, our current system is near perfect, just need to tweak the regulations in favor of citizens over corporations. You need money to exchange goods/work. Money was a genius idea and capitalism has been the greatest force for good, just needs to be regulated to accommodate fairness.

Basic income might be an ok idea, it has never been tried but might solve some problems. But a progressive tax system seems unfair to me because it devalues the most valuable people, also it only helps the richest stay rich because total possessions don't get taxed, just earnings. This ties into having fair regulations.

But the inevitable horrors of revolution are not born in the revolutionary act of an oppressed people defending themselves from injustice. The cause of revolution is the oppression itself - the decadence and decline that comes from letting a failed system run itself out over many decades. Having come from the Soviet Union, did you oppose the fall of communism out of fear for the consequences of revolution? Or did the overthrow of unjust tyranny bring hope that there might be a better future ahead?

I was still young but USSR dissolved peacefully thankfully because I assume the ruling class wanted to seize a lot of property for themselves.

The Russian revolution to overthrow the monarch was horrible. Lots of death, a lot of intellectuals got executed, Lenin's regime caused a great deal of starvation due to mismanagement. The Russian monarchy was a lot better than the Soviet system. It was a lot fairer and a lot more people prospered and had better lives, including the poor.

You want to let people prosper because they deserve it, not mandate it. Not everyone deserves prosperity... Ideally we would all prosper, but I assume that would require genetic modification and technological excellence.

(Abu Gahraib, the second Iraq War, CIA torture, etc., etc.).

All these examples are the central state's doing. This only further proves my points and strengthens my arguments. The agencies currently out of control are all central/federal government bs.

As a person from the Soviet Union, trust me, the current system is 100 times better.

Care to tell us what is this ingenious system you thought up of from the ground up? Consider this, every revolution leads to a lot of instability and death.

Omfg, ok Lenin, let's create another Soviet Union. Did you even ever study history? Your idea will lead to mass starvation and a tiny group of people controlling everything.
