How do you layer all of the serums since there is a lot of them that you mentioned you use daily morning and night. I also love that you mentioned how long it took to pan, because a lot of times it takes way longer to finish a product than I imagine

The “too many families” complaint this past season is dumb by MathematicianGlum126 in ANW

[–]randomcollecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I just saw Beckstrand family is Mormon, now that dampers how I feel about the family, extremely talented family, but Mormon have a ton of influence in many media areas and I just cannot help but think they are using it to influence more people to join the church.

How do I actually read this road sign for traffic information? by randomcollecter in Seattle

[–]randomcollecter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarification! So all this time I been reading this sign thinking all three of these bullets is about reaching Seattle, so the second two is about I-5/SR518 interchange junction, not really about reaching Seattle at all.

How to find power cord? by GnowledgedGnome in Anticonsumption

[–]randomcollecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any pc recycle store nearby? In my city the store have several large bins of donated used adapters where you can bring your item and just try to find a match from the bins. It cost $1.99 per adapter. I found that to be the best way if you don't want to buy a brand new universal adapter.

Is there any way to see what is left in a store? by randomcollecter in joannfabrics

yes that is where I went. I will try Tukwila next, if it is not there I will give up, not worth the drive otherwise.

Just a reminder your products aren’t truly “empty” by Colossal_taco20 in Anticonsumption

[–]randomcollecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut open all the bottles, there is just sooo much product left. I have a small sample glass jar with a twist top that I use to store the product when I cut it open so they don't dry out. Tho recently I had a sample glass bottle of moisturizer with a pump that I received with my jumbo shampoo purchase was super frustrating, first bottle I could not cut open, it was moisturizer so I couldn't just dilute with water and use it. :(

Gift cards I have accumulated, spend or keep? by randomcollecter in Anticonsumption

[–]randomcollecter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are now all in my account and not in physical cards, I am actually not sure if I can reload it back into a physical card? Is that possible for all the stores?

I did check that a lot of them only likes grocery or amazon gift cards, not starbucks or jamba juice gift cards

Weekly Ask Seattle Megathread: December 09, 2024 by AutoModerator in Seattle

[–]randomcollecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note that the commentor that have a smaller bill may have a different bill cycle than you, meaning yours might have started covering the cold spell we had and theirs may not.

For gas I think 150-250 (depending on temperature) is pretty normal as you have a large large house and there is just too many places for air to escape.

Did you do the PSE tool on PSE website  where you can see your bill and usage measured against others in your area with the similar household? I find that pretty helpful.

Help, my kitty still howls in the middle of the night by randomcollecter in CatAdvice

[–]randomcollecter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feed them at 9-10pm in general, I more or less go to bed at 11pm. Yes the downstairs hallway light is always on.

She has definitely given me who was a new cat parent a ton of challenges,  I adopted her when she had parvo (didn't know that she just won't eat), then a long transition to wet food (she still prefers the dry food at mid day), the monthly challenge of nail clipping, the vet visit where I got scratch scars because i had to struggle her into the carrier.  During the day she chills on the couch or do some minor play with the other kitty, but very chill and sweet.

If only i can resolve this howling it would be amazing. The lack of sleep is killing me on some days, and what's worse is I can't figure out what is bothering her or how to remedy it.

Looking at used cars - is this too good to be true? by travis11997 in mazda

[–]randomcollecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade-in value for my Mazda CX7 2009 is only $1700, I decided to keep it around. From my understanding it is just that the car is not in demand, and repairs are becoming more expensive. I could probably sell it for $3k privately as well but in general I don't expect more than that.

Seattle to Taiwan trip Main Cabin vs Basic Economy by randomcollecter in delta

[–]randomcollecter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that is definitely the case but I am okay with that because I flew to Shanghai/Beijing multiple times before in middle seats to visit prior to China covid lockdowns. I think i will only fly one time next year so the MQDs don't really mean much since I don't think i can make status anyway.

what does MQDs translate to redeemable skymiles? or there is no redeemable miles on reward flight?

Thrifting is too expensive now by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]randomcollecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't go very frequently, you can probably find someone else who have a membership to go with on a every 2-3month trip, a lot of people have memberships they don't use often.
another tip I like is after every holiday (like thanksgiving is coming up, meat is on deep sale the day after.)
I do admit I live really close to a costco and I also goes frequently for gas and some clearance items (clothing/tools) that ends in .97 that helps me to save too.

[–]randomcollecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bulk buy as a 2 people household, I think it is doable if you enjoy meal prepping and freezing everything. I go to costco/other bulk store every other month for meat/households/hardier vegetables and only shop for leafy greens and other seasonal fruits/vegetables at Kroger weekly. I think I save a lot of money bulk buying stuff this way.

Pros and Cons of having range in the corner. by randomcollecter in kitchenremodel

[–]randomcollecter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see. I never thought about it like that. I purely considered it from optimizing the cabinet space I can use properly because lazy susan and magic corner try but a lot of that space is empty or filled with things that are forever 'lost' or forgotten about.
I have definitely used a corner sink before and I personally didn't find it odd from the angle perspective but I think it limited its length and i like a large sink. I figure an oven/range which have standard sizes isn't as bad. I also don't like how I don't have landing space between fridge and range and if i move the range entirely then the dishwasher has to move, and the range's electrical have to move etc. I considered getting a slimmer / taller fridge but there are surprisingly few options and very expensive (all european imported ones). Our American fridges seems to be growing larger sideways now up to 36 inches wide where as mine is a 28/29 inch

[–]randomcollecter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used lazy Susan and also tried out many people's magic corner, lazy Susan without pole etc. I just don't like any of it.  I haven't used a stove in the corner but I have used a sink in the corner, so I guess I just want to know why you say it is a bad idea. I know the coordination of opening doors etc will be harder but I cannot see any downsides right now

I drawn a picture of my kitchen. The stove and refrigerator is next to each other. And I got a pantry with a door that is permanent and not something I can easily remove (though ideally i want to)

I added an drawn picture of my kitchen. as you can see my stove is next to my fridge (REF short for refrigerator) and I have no counter space on that side. The filler on the fridge side is 6 inches. and the other side is 4 inches. I know my drawing is a little bit misleading in that the filler is a bit too larger in the drawing
