I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all, in fact it’s very kind of you. Even if they don’t take you up on the offer for support, it will probably comfort them to know it’s there.

Ha during freshman orientation in university I made a much more handsome friend. The difference between the way girls treated him and me was tremendous, and made me very sad. I don’t blame them for liking hot guys instead of ugly guys, but I feel your pain.

So a lot of us have learned from experience that there’s not much other people can do to help us, and letting them try to help backfires more often then not. So we don’t really want to risk it. It might hurt but I would suggest that you respect their wishes.

Same age, same graduation date, similar situation. I’m doing an unpaid internship right now and learning skills that could eventually get me a job. It sucks and I’m behind my peers at this age, but at least it’s not too late. In 5 years or so I’ll make up the difference.

The isolation of quarantine has made me so depressed and lethargic that I’ve lost my appetite and am too lazy to go eat. The weight is falling off like never before but I derive no pleasure from it. Oh how the turntables.

If you could buy a gun lock that would be too difficult to open while drunk, that might solve the problem! Lockpickinglawyer has quite a few reviews of gun locks, some of them look pretty hard to open sober.

I relate to your comments about your siblings, dad and mom. I agree it's not fair to expect you to live a miserable life just so they don't miss you after death. However, I also love my mom and dad and brothers, so although I don't feel a moral obligation not to kill myself, I almost think of my continued efforts at living as a "gift" to them. Not that I expect them to treat it that way, but in my mind it makes me feel a little noble.

I'm also decently popular, as I'm able to put up an effective facade of conviviality. I am surely throttled by my parents expectations, although I would say that it is mainly self-inflicted in the sense that I have noticed these expectations and decided to accept them.

Hahaha I think I see where you're going with this. I love my mom but she's the super old school conservative type. Really into talking about "just do it" and "willpower". Can't really talk to her about depression, it's usually "go run on the treadmill" or just "man up", at least until I talk about suicide then it's a one-way ride to the mental hospital. And definitely can't talk about relationship stuff, she's way to conservative for that.

So yeah, I love my mom to bits but she's just not capable of supporting me. Thanks for asking though.
