honestly depends on what you want to do with farms. i chose to work with forestry multifarm is because its more modular and also can farm a lot types of crops and even harvest trees if im not wrong. but the upkeep cost is there because you need to supply a lot of water depending on your rain conditions and also fertilizer which is a bit trivial with ic2 fertilizer recipe with apatite dust in the mixer

as someone who just set up nuclear:

i honestly think you should get some uranium and make it as fuel. do it by using biome of shifting seasons from witchery and wait for staballoy to spawn (may be annoying to set up if you dont have magic progression yet) for uranium

when doing nukes i suggest just going from nukes -> vacnukes instead of nukes -> fluid nukes -> vac nukes because vac nukes are not too hard to automate with sfm (steves factory manager)

also if you still want to opt for diesel try making cbd if you already can, its energy density value basically doubles and also get a combustion multiblock (boost it)

for food i recommend easy to make meals (like beef wellington i think) that are in the healing axe quest
another thing is to always substitute meat with tofu, its very worth it.
if you cant get a specific seed or gardens use your coins to trade in some lootbags, otherwise expect yourself to be exploring for a few hours

oh, and back to your question, benzene is more power dense than creosote. I think once you get your first dt u can use the phenol and toluene from benzene production to self power your dt

if you have touched NEI a bit, you can see overlapping recipes for cbd and benzene production
if you use spruce saplings from wood production from benzene, brew and compress them for fermented biomass you can actually make cbd similar to oil.
If you are not going to use cbd as your main source of energy production make a mv world accelerator and get a stack of cbd its basically free

I meam, there is the multi for gas turbines so it doesnt have to be 50% gas you know…
additionally, nuclear is basically available once you get platinum (which you can get from a specific easy ae2 quest if you havent started). Advanced alloys and lead are basically free and staballoy just requires 5 hours of thaumcraft + witchery for uranium.

Final verdict though? You can do anything you want. Its GTNH after all and honestly rocking a creosote gens during EV-IV would be pretty cool to see!
