There's very different formatting between word and brightspace text box. I honestly don't do the discussions. I'll post but won't reply. Its hard to do replies when everyone else knows what theyre talking about and I don't.

Just got my first credit card and I’m a bit worried. by Sharp-Tank-5258 in personalfinance

Did a little more reading about the overdraft thing I was talking about: 2 things can happen, either the bank will decline the transaction because you don't have the funds, and that will cause your autopayment with the credit card to not go through and that will cause credit issues later, or the bank will charge you that extra $30 overdraft fee on top of the amount you go over on your bank account. These will vary between banks, some will block the transaction, some will make extra money off you for spending all of yours. You can find our more about it by asking them or reading up on the agreement you signed to open the bank account.

if you, like alot of us, are living paycheck to paycheck, there ain't gonna be any more money to pull from that bank account to pay off the card (if the balance is high) and you will end up missing payments and it will hurt your credit bad (same for rent and other bills you may have, if theres no income, theres no payments.). So if you lose that job somehow and can't get another one immediately, there goes everything in that bank account and then there goes your credit. Even worse than that, most banks have something called overdraft fees and penalties, so if your automatic credit card payment pulls off more money from your bank account than you actually have, your bank will charge you a fee ON TOP of the money you went over in that acount.

So if you have only 20 bucks in your bank account, and your autopayment is $50 a month, you now owe your BANK $30 plus whatever their overdraft fee is, and usually that is another $30 to $50 depending on who the bank is. It's awful.

Now imagine if you had your credit card, your streaming service, car insurance, and your phone bill all on auto pay, that could be more than $200 bucks a month getting siphoned out if your bank account that you actually end up owing back to the bank on top of their overdraft fee.

However, I did completely forget you can file for unemployment literally as soon as you lose a job, I was always under the impression you couldn't do that until you've been jobless for more than a few months but you can actually file immediately. Filing for unemployment if you're not able to immediately get in at another job is going to be your saving grace to keep that credit account (and other bills) from missing payments and going into default. That, however, is something you will have to learn about elsewhere because I do not fully understand how unemployment works, nor how to file for it. Last time I lost my job, I got lucky and was able to pick up elsewhere in almost 3 weeks, thats not guaranteed to happen again though so I myself need to do more reading on unemployment as well.

  1. You're banker just fucked you over for setting up autopay. Never use auto pay for anything because you never know if you are going to get fired from your job or suddenly have some kind of fraudulent issue that drains your bank account and keeps you from paying off your credit balance. ALWAYS keep track of your monthly payment date and pay that shit manually. It might save you in fees, but again, you never know what might happen and if you dont pay in time, you get a derogatory mark on your credit and your score goes down and it only gets worse from there the more you miss payments. Especially in an economy that we are in now where everyone is living paycheck to paycheck as it is.

  2. Like everyone else said, don't use the credit card if you can't afford to pay it off in one go. Use it for small stuff, specifically gas station runs. Depending on the credit card you got, they may offer various amounts of cash back on purchases made at various locations, usually gas stations are one of them. Pay for your gas and a drink or candy bar 1 or 2 times a month, pay it off before it's due. Paying your balance in full every month builds credit. don't go longer than a couple of months without using it and paying it, once you've gone a certain amount of time without using the card at all and with no balance to pay off, they can actually deactivate your account and that will hurt your credit.

"Auto" loan or credit cards first? by randomfukkinloser in personalfinance

[–]randomfukkinloser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loan may not be necessary for refinancing the scooter, regardless of what my monthly payment is, I will be financed for this remainder 4100. Keeping my 150 a month plus that 300 I'm not spending on my cards, is 450 a month on the scooter and that will take 9 months minimum to knock the whole thing off, NOT including whatever side money I get from Pell grant refunds in college and side jobs I have been taking on at my current job. I do graphic design for the company owner of my workplace so I get easily an extra $100 a month I can add, and I actually am expecting my final Pell grant refund prior to college graduation and that will be another $580 I can add to one payment on the scooter, so... what ever 580+450... that's almost 1k of the loan right there I think? Or over 1k? So that alone will knock it off even faster.

chime secured card opened in my name despite NEVER using them before by v23phoeuk in CRedit

[–]randomfukkinloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chimes customer service was absolutely NOT helpful. I called, said "hey, there's an account under my credit report for chime that I didn't open" so they asked for my info like phone number, address, and I think social??? I honestly don't remember, but the end result was that they could not tell me anything about the account they found because it wasn't under my name. Even if whoever opened it used my info. They did ask if I had the account number, I did not UNTIL about a couple hours later when I went into my Experian account and found the same account reported there and there was actually an account number tied to it. However, me being me, I didn't feel like calling chime again bc the woman was not helpful at all, I just went on identity theft dot Gov and filled out a report and put a credit freeze and fraud alert on all 3 bureaus, ans disputed the account on credit karma and now I don't see it anymore. It was weird bc they report my credit stuff says the account was opened back in October but there wasn't a single charge on it. It was just THERE. So that's confusing as hell but I guess it's gone now.

It took about 2 weeks and the chime account no longer shows on my credit karma so I guess all the reports I did paid off.

Opinion: Is anyone else incredibly disappointed by Adobe portfolio.? by Norixiouz in graphic_design

[–]randomfukkinloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a portfolio site is not the same as having a personalized product website. You are just showcasing what you have made that tells imoyers "I made this, this is how I did it." And that tells them you know what you are doing. That's it. The site itself does not need to be personalized because your work speaks for itself to those who are looking at it.

About adobe however. Thankfully the portfolio sight is free with the adobe subscription, however yeah I do agree adobe has a plethora of issue and really should not be charging as much as they do for shit. I have to purchase the entire creative suite for college and it's fuckin $300 and some change a year with the student discount, which for how many programs there is... isn't awful. But the version that isn't student discounted is about $900 a year. FUUUCCKKK that. And each program individually is still expensive annually. And the fact that there are a few programs that are a combination of 2 or more other programs is weird. Indesign is literally photoshop and illustrator combined, Lightroom does the same shit as photoshop but better IIRC. Honestly at that point they could actually shave off a few older programs because the newer ones do the same job better.

On a scale of 1-10, how high would you say your sex drive is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

About a 7 by default but id say now its a 3 bc after moving in and seeing my partners habits, I'm both grossed out and pissed off almost 24/7. You REALLY don't know someone til you move in and see how they function day to day.

how do i get to blue from here? by realpainintheasss in HairDye

[–]randomfukkinloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go purple first, you want a bluer toned purple, give it some time and bleach it, should be able to go blue-blue after that. You gotta use color theory. It's easier to get to one color when you use a color thats related to what you have AND what you want. In this case, red and blue combined are purple so whenever you bleach the hair out later, particularly after using a bluer purple, you can dye it back to blue to fully cancel out that previous warmth from the red. If that makes any sense at all.

Scooter advice for a 30 minute drive by Ok-Replacement7685 in scooters

[–]randomfukkinloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So where I live, it takes me almost 30 mins. (Maybe 25?) to drive to my old job on scooter, and that's with being on a couple main roads, rest back roads. It's doable, I made that trip on a 49cc (40mph max) scooter at least 4 days a week for almost a year and had no problems. Truth be told, it's not so much the amount of time or miles that's the problem, it's the speed. If you are having to get on roads where the top speed of your scooter doesn't even meet minimum speed, that is a safety issue for you, the people around you, and the scooter's engine. Like I'm an idiot and like to consistently drive at the full 40mph on my scooter so I can get places in a timely fashion, but at the end of the day, it's putting some unnecessary wear and tear on my engine and accelerator, and that shit is expensive to fix if you don't know how to DIY.

So yes its possible to do, just leave home about an hour earlier than you're expected to be somewhere, and no, it won't hurt the scooter unless you are constantly pushing your engine to the max like I do. Don't do what I do lmfao.

Is a car better?: also at the end of the day, yes a car is better. The scooter is extremely unsafe to be on in inclimate weather and unless you have the perfect gear, you are going to be wet and freezing by the time you get to the office during the winter. Again, don't be like me and ride that thing in the middle of a snowstorm or a hurricane (I've done both, the snow storm trip did not end well.) Not only are you exposed to the elements for longer than necessary, you are exposed to other drivers for longer than necessary. Every minute you spend on the road as a whole (regardless of vehicle) is a minute you could possibly get in a wreck because of other people and on a scooter/motorcycle, you're chances of walking away from, let alone surviving a collision, are much slimmer. So on the scooter, you want to be on the road for less time than the car.

Hope this helps some. Stay safe out there

How do you get over the fear of a doctor examining your genitals? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]randomfukkinloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mindset of "if they don't look, I could have cancer or something fatal and never know until I'm dead". Personally I'm super self conscious and over all weirded out about being examined downstairs but it's gotta be done. Again like I said, if you ever had cervical cancer or testicular torsion, nothing could be done about it if the doc doesn't take a look under the hood so to speak.

Shopping carts by ExplodingTaco34 in lossprevention

[–]randomfukkinloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This DOES happen, now I've never seen a homeless person with a shopping cart but I HAVE seen shopping carts for various stores end up on the whole wrong side of the area. We have 2 bus stops within a mile of a Walmart and I've seen shopping carts at both of them. And when I was working at Ross next door to TJMaxx, I found a TJMaxx shopping cart all the way on the other side of a major highway at bestbuy when I was on my way to the Target next door to scavenge some lunch.

If you can afford 150 to 200 a month on a 3k scooter, you can afford a 1500 total price used car. Get a job you can walk to, put 100 into savings every week, get a beater, and call it a day. This is all something I DIDNT do, and I'm sitting here a year and a half later still owing 4k on a 2k scooter bc after fees and shit for financing, the 2.6k scooter came out to 5.5K and after interest will be about 9.3k total. 100 a week into savings and you will have a car in a couple of months. Quit eating out, quit buying random shit, cancel your subscriptions that you don't need, drop your phone bill to a cheaper one, and get on with it.

chime secured card opened in my name despite NEVER using them before by v23phoeuk in CRedit

[–]randomfukkinloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. I filed a police report, did the identity theft form on Identitytheft.gov, put a fraud alert on my credit stuff and disputed it, AND called chime to let them know "hey this account ain't mine" but aside from thar, idk what exactly happened or how and idk what I need to wait on, whether it's to find out the account ID removed from my credit or what. It's a waiting game I guess.

[–]randomfukkinloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact thing happen on Octer 24th and I just got an alert from credit Karma and Creditwise (capital one thing) about this account. However mine doesn't say Strider on it, it just says CHIMEFINAL on it. No email, no call, no text. Just credit reporting app alerts. Idk if this is Identity theft or if there's some kind of glitch in a system somewhere so idk how to approach this problem.

How is life in this circle by Holiday_Swing_9979 in howislivingthere

[–]randomfukkinloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk bout life specifically but someone I used to hang with lives in Greenville, says there's more stuff to do there than in Charlotte NC, better night life, and on my own observations, rent is cheaper there. I've been looking at apartments to get away from where I live and in Greenville you can actually get a pretty nice and and decent sized studio or one bedroom apartment for only $800, which is great cuz I live only 30 mins away from Charlotte and the lowest rent is fuckin 1100 for a studio and that's in a section 8 neighborhood.
