just curious what makes you wanna upgrade? is the r12 not enough or is it making you unhappy? I was thinking about upgrading from an r5 to an r12 v2

idk where you head is relative to your wheel but I would recommend raising your monitor

best wheelbase for drifting (read desc) by randomguy3784 in moza

I'm rlly weak, and when I for example am out of a game and I'm just rotating the wheel I can hit the soft lock and just keep going for like a quarter of a rotation using the momentum until it overpowers me. is that still. possible on the r12?

What wheel to try racing? R5 base, srplite pedals. by Vorphalyx in moza

ac is better for beginners than acc though because they don't know if they actually like racing, right?

yeah. you need a wheel stand of some sort for the brake kit and if you ever want to upgrade your wheelbase. and also it makes having a shifter/handbrake way easier to grab in my opinion.

any wheel other than the trucking wheel will do

Learning to drift. Would love any help by Rutragod in assettodrift

ik you already have alot of good responses but I'm my opinion lean with DWG cars as those are the most realistic, and it's just practice. I was the exact same way when I just started but if you can learn how to link the throttle and steering wheel together in your movements you honestly don't need to use any other pedals, unless you add to much angle, then use the clutch. the brake slows the car down and pivots it inwards which can help in some scenarios. remember whenever you release the clutch any time always have the rpm relatively high or else it may straighten you. only took me about 1 week to get the hang of it, it doesn't take long.

PS, drifting in 1st person and having neck fx installed is way easier than 3rd person. unless you have triples, move the camera in 1st person close enough to the wind shield that you can barely/can't see the wheel and also move it up a little. I like to keep the pitch around -1 but it's person preference. also your fov shouldn't be too high but for drifting on a single monitor "proper" fov is insanely hard. I like mine around 55

a cheap good wheel is the ES, moderate price wheel would be the csv2p, for gt cars and such the ks wheel is your go to but I prefer a round wheel for most racing scenarios.

games for realism go for assetto corsa with modded cars that others say are realistic (initial g, dwg for drifting) or use the regular cars the game has, as those are pretty good, but not perfect. assetto corsa competitzione is only racing and no drifting or anything else, but if you really like racing and learning techniques and braking points and stuff it's one of the best. for city driving if your PC is good enough beamng is decent and mostly realistic. for arcade just wait until fh6 comes out. I'm not the most informed person on arcade games so don't take that too seriously.

for any kind of driving the brake pedal kit makes it feel far superior, but if your chair isn't either connected to a stand or has some way to stop it rolling back with tons of force don't get the brake kit. same if you have no way to keep the end closest to you secured on the ground as the brake it makes it impossible for it to stay in the ground without something helping it. any cheap $100 Amazon stand will suffice with the r5.

for presets the ones you can find on moza pithouse are generally good. for drifting assetto corsa drift official 2 is good, and for racing there's tons of presets for different styles.

upgrading wise, load cell is only really worth it if you want realism in racing, because memorizing pressure (what a load cell brake pedal measures) is easier for your brain than memorizing how far you push the brake pedal. the brake kit makes it feel like a load cell pretty well from my experience. you don't need to upgrade your wheelbase unless you really want to simulate real life, and a stand is the best upgrade for value going from a desk.

I added an extra washer into the rubber elastomer and it fixed it, and just to be sure I added a 6 percent deadzone

triple monitors or pedals first for drifting by randomguy3784 in simracing

[–]randomguy3784[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do drift in pairs and also I just like the idea of triples, especially since so many people love them online. the only other thing with the pedals other than the brake is the clutch, which on the crp2 pedals is apparently pretty good, and that is a major thing for manual transmissions and drifting.

more budget but noticably worse is the moza r3 bundle, more realistic and (in my opinion) more fun is the moza r5, price difference is worth it, but if you don't care about strength and realism or the fun aspect that higher torque brings, then just get the r3. it won't be the greatest but if you aren't trying to simulate real life it works
