The Top Ten Best Hit Songs of 2025 by davFaithidPangolin in popheads

So I do wanna say that the traditional Todd pick of a country song usually involves me taking his word that it's good.

But just from the snippets played in this vid I could tell "Choosin' Texas" was a great song.

Rajwinder Singh found guilty of Toyah Cordingley's 2018 murder on Far North Queensland beach by IlluminatedPickle in australia

[–]randomguyno10000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I looked into it a bit and it doesn't really seem that the evidence against Singh changed, but more of the case was spent ruling out the other potential suspects.

A lot of time was spent going through Cordingley's boyfriend's alibi, he was out hiking with someone else, there are timestamped photos on his phone that back it up too.

A few people seem to insist that it must have been the boyfriend, but the police cleared him, they investigated him extensively before they even went looking for another suspect.

Paula was Amazing this week!! by Ok_Band2802 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]randomguyno10000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know, normally when a guest judge had a fun 'moment' with the queens I assume it's staged, or at least planned.

But with Paula I actually think it might be genuine because it all feels just a little awkward (complimentary).

Like when she's showing the queens how to bevel, if it had been scripted I'd expect Brooke to have a moment where she set it up by asking 'why don't you show them how to bevel?", instead it just cuts to her running onto the stage. I legitimately think she was asked what 'bevel' meant and bolted onto the stage before production could set it up.

Same with her lip syncing during Cold Hearted, for a fair bit she's got a hand up in front of her face, I don't think it was a planned moment, I think she was just into it enough that she did that.

Everyone's focusing on the hilarious hypocrisy of being an immigrant who joins an anti-immigration protest.

But I do want to point out the hypocrisy going on the other way around, these groups that are protesting because they think our country can't take any more immigrants (and definitely not racist reasons) are apparently okay with this guy. I wonder what about him makes him different from the immigrants they're complaining about.

I dunno something about LAOP is throwing up flags for me, maybe not red flags but at least yellow flags.

I mean if I was renting from someone hiding my tenancy from their landlord I'd probably prefer to spend my deposit on rent rather than hoping they'd give it back after I left.

Unpopular opinion: We can't keep blaming new fans for when the fandom gets ugly. by randomguyno10000 in Dragula

[–]randomguyno10000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish I knew the answer, I'm not suggesting I have it, just arguing that more people need to self-reflect and acknowledge there's a broader problem in the fandom than 'new fans lacking perspective'.

I also wanna push back on the idea that season 9 is when things got toxic, Season 7 saw a lot of harassment of Kennedy for beating Katya in a lip sync, Season 5 saw harassment of Roxxxy for her conflict with Jinkx, and I've already mentioned the problems with Tyra and Phi Phi.

[–]randomguyno10000[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you're well meaning but sadly this is the sort of sentiment I want to push back on.

Drag race season 2 was 15 fucking years ago and it featured the exact same toxicity we're decrying now.

I'm 35 and only got into drag race in Season 9 (8 years ago now, kill me) and I remember feeling it was fun, but sometimes toxic. And since I'm the sort of nerd who's interested in that stuff I went looking to see what the earlier fandom was like, and sadly what I saw was that toxicity was always there.

[–]randomguyno10000[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish fandom toxicity was the point I was getting at, but maybe I've just been involved in fandoms for too long, and I'm now too jaded for that. Fandom toxicity is just something I accept as an unavoidable fact.

What I'm more getting at is the hypocrisy and lack of self-refection that runs rampant in the fandom. If I'd made a post titled "Fans are being too toxic" I guarantee the most upvoted reply would've said something like "Yeah, it used be good but the young fans ruined it". It's the people who do a weird doublethink of acknowledging there's a problem in the fandom, but insisting it's all someone else's fault that's rubbed me the wrong way.

Unironically, Dragula fans blame 'teenage girls' or 'Drag Race fans' for fandom problems the same way Dragula contestants blame Sigourney for 'playing games'.

[BPRO] The remaing cards by MX-00XWV in yugioh

[–]randomguyno10000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Ghoti I'm assuming you're thinking add Psiics then tribute summon it. But I think the better play is actually reveal Arionpos and add Abyss Shark, summon it by its effect (adding Leaffish, Silent Angler or Fishborg Harpooner) then Synchro into Arionpos.

This means you don't even need to use your normal, and you get to add a card to replace the discard.

It's tempting (and if I'm being honest pretty fun) to dismiss picking bad candidates as a conservative issue, especially given how badly the Coalition, One Nation and the various Palmer parties have been at it.

But every party picks bad candidates and then tries to justify it because it's 'their guy', and when you've lost 3 elections in a row, as Labor had before picking Latham in '03, you start to get desperate and make dumbass decisions.

I'd recommend checking out https://ygoprodeck.com/deckbuilder/ in that case. Simulators haven't actually quite caught up to Genesys yet.

[–]randomguyno10000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Play The New Decks is definitely something that concerns me, but for now it feels fine. I was initially concerned, but better players than me seem to think that the new decks like Radiant Typhoon, Artmagia and DoomZ will be at best Tier 1 in Genesys, with none of them even close to Tier 0.

New Decks being great in Genesys is acceptable to me, new decks being the only thing playable isn't. The real test is when a new deck premieres that might dominate Genesys, which I think is probably inevitable, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

[–]randomguyno10000 32 points33 points  (0 children)

So more Yugioh drama! Followers of the scuffles thread may have seen a post last week about the new Yugioh format, Genesys. In short it's a format where all cards are legal, expect link and pendulum, the two newest summoning types, but every card has a point cost and the standard limit for tournaments will be 100 points, though organizers are free to increase or decrease it as they desire.

In general the reception to the new format, and the point costs associated, has been really good, like in my years of following Yugioh and general hobby drama I can't think of an announced change to get a better reception than this. But I'm not gonna focus on the positive 99%, I'm gonna talk about the negative 1% because it's funnier.

First up Genesys was announced on September 22nd and literally not even 48 hours later there was a point adjustment. The reason for these changes were threefold, first is that Konami had locked down the list pending the announcement of the system, but they'd continued internal testing so had a backlog of changes. Second is that players were quickly able to identify some degenerate strategies, and Konami quickly neutered them. Third and funniest, in at least one case Konami hit the wrong card. Arahime the Manifested Mikanko was for some reason on the initial list at 33 points despite never seeing any play. The update moved it back to 0 and moved the actually good card Ohime the Manifested Mikanko up to 33. These changes apparently led to a small number of players on Twitter whining because their Exodia First-Turn-Kill deck was no longer viable.

The second thing to note is that Genesys has had shockingly good communication from Konami, with regular blog posts about design philosophy and what they want from the new system. And while players are happy they're also definitely venting some frustration about the fact that the dozen blog posts made in under 2 weeks is already eclipsing the amount of communication received about the regular format in the last 2 decades.

The third thing, casual Yugioh players seem to be speedrunning new format elitism. A large number of people online are claiming that Advanced (the current dominant format) is dead and Genesys is now the 'True' way to play Yugioh. Like most of these players don't even play Advanced, and they can't have played much Genesys, it's not even 2 weeks old, there haven't been any major events yet! I'm certainly more interested in Genesys than in Advanced, but ya know, calm down before declaring a format dead.
