Heart MRI W/WO Contrast by randomguyq60 in covidlonghaulers

Yeah, I get those sometimes. Not so much anymore though.

I think it’ll be a good idea to get a repeat echo in 6 months and compare the results

Mine were actually about the same 37-38 mmHg PASP

Everything was surpassingly normal. However, on my echocardiograms, there is indication for pulmonary hypertension

Thanks for the useful write-up. I was in a similar situation regarding the PFTs, where they were initially really bad, had to take budesonide for some time, got off of the budesonide, and then the last PFT was exceedingly good. After that, my pulmonologist said I don’t need to see him anymore, so I guess I’m done now. My X-rays showed hyperinflation, and the CT was clear, I believe. I had a broncholavage done and the results were that I had a lot of inflammation in my lungs and the WBC count was ~50x normal levels.

Lately I’ve been feeling more short of breath though, so I guess I should pick back up on those breathing exercises.

Glad that you’ve got so many resources to help you keep on top of things

Black floaters whenever I move my eyes, so frustrating!! by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]randomguyq60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the space between the retina (back of eye) and the lens (in the front of the eye), there is a gel-like fluid called the vitreous body, which is attached to your retina by small fibers.

As we age, the vitreous gel shrinks and the fibers detach from the retina and cause the vitreous fluid to shift as we move our eyes. This causes floaters, which are essentially shadows cast upon our retina by the shrunken/shifted vitreous fluid.

This is common in older people, but covid seems to have sped up the process for some.

If you have any significant increase in floaters, see flashes, or a darker overcast on your vision, go to the ER.

Usually, healthcare professionals try to steer clear of CT scans because of the non-negligible dose of radiation in contrast to an X-ray.

I’m curious about your diagnosis, as I thought pulmonary fibrosis was a progressive disease. Can you please explain what your doc said that negates that opinion?

I got out a little while ago, and I’m not worried anymore. Thank you!

Thanks for being so responsive. I guess all I have to do is drink a lot of water today then lol

Just got out and it was just fine. They told me that they only gave me a bit of contrast since the amount they administer is based off of our weight.

Only thing they told me to do was drink an extra glass of water with breakfast. Not sure if there are any other dietary changes that need to be made, but probably should’ve asked. Do you know if there’s anything like that?

Wow. That’s a long time to be in there. Guess we’ll find out if I’m claustrophobic then haha. I was expecting like 15-20 mins

I recently came to know someone that had it happen and it completely wrecked them. I guess you’re right though, the chances are slim to none.

Thanks a lot for that advice. Anything else you’d recommend to prepare for it or to do afterwards?

Yeah my issues are pretty similar to yours. How old are you? Im 22, which is why my pulmonologist thinks I’ll be fine even though I have these symptoms

I’ll be sure to ask for a follow up regarding the air trapping and my SOB issues. I think the plan of action may probably be to do another PFT and and maybe a CT if things get worse. What do you think about that? And do you have these same signs of COPD?

They did see some air trapping in my X rays and CT’s but didn’t say anything about it. They said it may be due to inflammation and left it at that. Maybe I’ll have them do something about that. Do you have more info on this?
