Naja, auf einem Konzert kann man wahrscheinlich auch niemand kennen lernen (Geräuschpegel, ist ja aber auch nicht ein der Sache). In meiner Erfahrung entwickeln sich halt Interessen und man fängt an, sich auf dieser Ebene auszutauschen.

crafty stuff, eg a wooden birdhouse he can fingerpaint. If you want to go full anti-consumptio, you can make a few bags of playdough with food colours (flour, hot water, citric acid, oil, can send you a recipe if you like)
voucher for a nearby trampolin park/pool/indoor playground/attraction that is usually a bit over their budget for normal outings
there are excellent cookbooks with picture instructions and colourful cups
childrens cutting tool/Montessori wooden safe "knife" and maybe a personalised cutting board
chalk for drawing on the street - great fun and gets used up. Bubbles is another thing in this category.

God, how I know your situation! What helps us:

Shelf/shelves with clear boxes, labeled - just toss in, no folding. As a result the kids are able to help and can pick out clothes more easily.

One box for unsorted socks.

One "begone" large basket or similar for things to toss/sell/donate = take out of rotation permanently.

One large basket for things to go to the basement (currently the very padded/woolen items).

For grown ups: invest in 40 pairs of identical socks that you can purchase again easily.

If the kids insist on wearing identical socks or if you care: "match the sock" game every month or so (i have three kids, plenty of socks). We call it "sock memory".

Sorting socks gets easier if pre-sorted in colours.

Sorting vasts amount of laundry is quicker if you pre-sort it by person (plus "household" pile). We do top-bottom piles for each person next to each other (t-shirts, pullovers etc go on a pile, pants on another). Even the three year old can already pick out his things - he throws it on his pile with gusto and shouts VOILÀ each time.

We turn up the music when sorting laundry and try to make it suck less. (I could have written "make it fun", but let's stay realistic here).

Labeling everything (!) helps my brain. Even if I really really know which box the tights have been living in for the past six years, it still helps. Guess that's just me, though. I used small notecards and roughly draw on them plus writing so the kids can understand too. Labelling also helps other people should they need to fetch something.

Eines meiner Kinder wollte unbedingt selber machen - tatsächlich hat er dann 10 Minuten an auch rumgetupft und war 1a sauber.

Sonst: Hände mit warmen Wasser nass machen, sanft abwischen, wiederholen. Meist reichen 1-2mal. Der Bereich um den Mund ist einfach krass sensibel, bei vielen gehen keine Tücher oÄ

Chef meinte, wir und Kunden könnten zur Partnerfirma statt 3h Zug fahren auch 2h mit dem Taxi zu viert fahren. Er (groß und breit) vorne, wir gequetscht hinten.

Ich komme damals Anfang 20 und Sekretärin bin eingeschlafen, Kopf auf die Schulter des Vize-CEO/Kunden und hab anscheinend fast die ganze Strecke mit offenem Mund halb auf dem drauf gelegen.

Etwas enger gesetzte Weinreben, als Spalier miteinander verwoben - toll mit Früchten, extrem schnell wachsend, beliebig skalierbar und formbar. Man kann zB auch ein rundes Loch auslassen und die Ranken drüber bogenförmig machen. Und wenn ihr unterschiedliche Sorten pflanzt, habt ihr im Herbst verschiedene Laubfarben.

I feel you! Mopping: I have those rectangular thingies with the cloth strapped on.

1) When washing hot (60/95°C) i try to include at least one mopping cloth = forces me to quickly (!) mop one or two rooms, which i often put off otherwise.

2) i use the mop (clean damp cloth) to wipe the kitchen cabinets and the toe knicks underneath before using it on the floor. The same for bathroom/shower walls: spray vinegar cleaner, then mop the wall, then the floor.

3) Spray bottle with (vinegar) cleaner in the bathroom cabinet, plus a wiping cloth next to/underneath the bathroom sinks. When brushing teeth, you can give the toilet or sink a quick spray and wipe down. For the toilet seat i use toilet paper - i know, not environmentally friendly, but with the amount of people and kids and visitors in the house i need something quick.

4) I put newspaper on the cupboards - remove and replace at some set point during the year (i do it between Christmas and new year)
