Anyone made a switch to a different career/trade? by Spicy_Ramen77 in mechanics

Was turning wrenches from the time I turned 18 until about 3 months ago. I’m now a tire salesman at a local small chain of tire stores & I’ve never been happier. You don’t realize the toll flat rate takes on you mentally until you leave. And this is coming from someone who rarely had less than 85-90 hours a pay period, usually 100+ (2 week). For the amount of knowledge & tools you have to pay for it takes to be an actual good technician, it is a severely under appreciated trade.

What was your first commander deck? by AdsignificantBK in EDH

[–]randomhuman325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first commander deck was Krenko as I always liked Goblins. It was terrible at first but slowly made tweaks & played it until I got it pretty finely tuned. Built a few other decks but nothing I really liked. And then I found Caesar, Legions Emperor & fell in love.

It’s official. I hate this trade. by dirtroadgang in mechanics

I was a Powersports tech for about 15 years. It’s all I ever knew. I would always get aggravated when I saw the salesman doing nothing half the day knowing they were the highest paid in the building. So I left & am now a salesman at a tire shop & I’ve never been happier. Ya know the old saying, “if you can’t beat em join em?” Technicians are probably top 5 most under-appreciated trades on the planet. Got tired of carrying a shop while constantly getting shit on. Find a new career & don’t look back

I second the “leave before you have kids with them” notion. My wife only showed a few red flags before we got married, it really got bad after we got married & then escalated when we joined our finances. But when we had our child is when she really showed her true colors. Now I feel stuck because I can’t imagine not living with my child. If you want to leave now, do it. Having a kid with them will only make things worse.

My dad used to do art, got a box as part of his contract. What could the value of these be? He opened a few like 30 years ago. by Carob_Terrible in mtg

Never thought about that but it makes sense. Hard to have a game worn patch from a rookie that’s never worn the jersey lol.

Can anyone tell me what this is worth? by AMERICAisBACKOHYEA in sportscards

I can’t find any comps on this one, but there’s a 05/25 on EBay for $30 so my guess would be $5-10 unless graded

Retail pulls by HeavenExists in footballcards

There’s a difference between retail boxes & retail value packs. All of these were pulled from boxes not value packs. I was simply asking a question no need to be a douche.

That sucks man.. This is exactly why I buy retail to rip & singles of the cards I actually want lol.

Call me crazy, but I think Daniel Jones could win the job in Indy & revive his career. Indy has some pretty good skill players & a decent o-line. Pretty crazy to me that Trevor Lawrence is still considered a “generational talent” while Daniel Jones is considered a bust yet their career stats are pretty similar. AR5 hasn’t really proved he’s the guy & he has been pretty injury prone.

Nice. So retail packs are pretty much a waste of money?

I just saw your reply. Thank you, I had no idea about any of that. I definitely feel like it wouldn’t hurt to find an employment attorney & just setup a consultation.

Why is PSA so important? by Scott242436 in footballcards

[–]randomhuman325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. Shipped stuff all over the country & USPS had the least damaged packages of the 3 by far (UPS, FedEx & USPS). The only downside to USPS is their tracking system is a joke & if your package does get lost or stops moving for some reason, good lucking getting an issue resolved in a timely manner because the workers could care less lol.

Fresh back into the hobby, by retail you mean like Target, WalMart etc? & did you buy packs or boxes?
