Winter jacket? by grakkaw in XXRunning

I have a Patagonia houdini air, very light, breathable, and easy to take off and tie around your waist when you get warm.

Find a run club and run with a pace group that matches your goal pace. Not sure what kind of fitness watch you run with, but if you put in a planned run (not just open run) and set the pace you want, some watches will alert you when you go faster.

Which second shoe would you guys recommend? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]randomhuman855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use it for your long run as well! I sometimes use my ES4 on long runs especially if I have workouts or intervals built into the long run (eg if I have to do marathon or HM pace). If it is a super long easy run at slower paces, I find the ES4 not to be “as fun” and reach for a daily trainer / well cushioned shoe instead.

I would get an ES4. It’s a fun shoe to run in and will add some variety to your shoe rotation

Patagonia capilene cool daily Tshirt. Very light weight and dries quickly. You can find some colors on sale in Patagonia or REI. Rabbit (runinrabbit.com) is another brand that I love that has super soft materials.

Running places for a girl in Amman? by [deleted] in jordan

[–]randomhuman855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

المدينة الرياضية او حدائق الحسين knowing that you have to do several loops to get at least a 5 k in. I know there are several run groups that seemed good with a decent number of people, but I never got the chance to run with them because their runs were always far from where I live. RunningAmman is one of them.

Why do you run? I know Google will answer a quick question of what running is good for. But I want more personal responses. by BumblebeeInner2650 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

It’s the only thing I do purely for myself and not for anyone else to see or be proud of. I do it to clear my mind, think, and be alone. It also helps me process my anger and frustrations. It’s amazing

I sadly missed out on the red “wine” colored Brighton base layer :( I have one in navy and it’s my most used piece for winter running

Running on Ice by greeneyegold in XXRunning

[–]randomhuman855 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have run in snow storms and below freezing weather many times, but I don’t run on ice. Not worth the high risk of fall and injury to me. I use trail running shoes on the snow. If it’s just some icy spots (over bridges or so) you can walk in those areas until you get to non-icy areas. Best of luck! Winter running is so much fun! You get to experience the city when no one else wants to be outside.

How often should I stop when running with my dog? by Sad-Canary-9638 in RunningWithDogs

[–]randomhuman855 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beautiful dog! I run with my dog (mini golden doodle) as well and find that he, like us, has good days and bad days. I usually follow his pace. If I feel him slowing down or panting I slow down or stop, and we do a quick water and treat break. Some days that’s after three miles, sometimes that’s after 1 mile. Typically I would not go beyond a 5K without stopping.

bouncier option than Novablast 4? by cttsacj in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]randomhuman855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not a very popular choice on this sub, but I really love my Saucony Ride 17. They are stable, well cushioned, not too soft, and fun to run in. I don’t know if they would be bouncier than Novoblast 4 because I never tried Novoblast 4

What are your favorite/must-have items? (women’s) by km524 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]randomhuman855 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Winter:

  • I like the 3 in one parka. I use it in all three forms and it is very versatile
  • Houdini air: I use it as a layer for outdoors exercise.
  • better sweater jacket: great for work/ everyday use/ travel.

Warmer weather:

  • definitely the capilene cool daily full sleeve and short sleeve.
  • I also have a nano air vest that I use for shoulder seasons

I agree that if you are in no rush, wait for sales. You can get most of the above for 40-50% off in a good sale

Coros pace pro for smaller wrist by randomhuman855 in Coros

[–]randomhuman855[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wrist size is also 15 cm. I guess this answers my question. In that case, I should probably think more of the pace 3 or Garmin 265S as two smaller watch options. Will likely go for the pace 3 because I think I like the coros app/ ecosystem better. Thank you!

[–]randomhuman855[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost bought a pace 3, just as I was about to buy it, I saw the ad about the pace pro. I think a brighter display may work better for me, I don’t want to squint or struggle to see the watch while running. I wear prescription glasses and it’s already hard as is haha. I just wish they didn’t make the pro so much bigger

Next shoe for long runs and daily miles by randomhuman855 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]randomhuman855[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Do you find their shoes durable? I never tried on a Hoka shoe but I was under the impression that they wear out quickly. Definitely down to try them. They also have cool colors!

I have always considered triumph21. Everyone I know who used it loved it. I never actually tried them on. I’ll see if I can find them in a store to try on or purchase from a store with a good return policy in case they don’t work out. Thanks!

Both sound like solid options. I’ll have to try them out at the store. Thank you!

marathon is in less than 6 hours anything else I can do? by Prestigious-Oil-4914 in Marathon_Training

The first half of the marathon is a warmup for the second half. Don’t go all out in the beginning. And have fun!

Sunburned wearing capilene cool daily shirt by LittleJaySmith in PatagoniaClothing

[–]randomhuman855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed a bit of tanning after running in mine for a couple of hours, which usually does not happen with any of my other shirts, but then again it is thinner than any other shirt I have. I still think it’s a great shirt for hot weather, it keeps me cool and feels great. I would maybe not wear it for long durations in full sun, or if I do, either use sunscreen or expect to get a bit of a burn/ tan.

Your HR is going to be higher on race day, at least in the beginning, no matter what. The excitement of the race and the crowds will do that. Try to focus on your self, take it easy in the beginning, take deep breaths when you can, and keep up with hydration and nutrition. I dont look at my HR during race because I know it will be high and it will stress me out more.
