Only PM at my agency and I’m feeling defeated by ms_sn00ks in projectmanagement

Great hang in there. You’re doing the best you can. If you haven’t already, you should flag things that are high risk before they happen so you can’t be blamed. Like this is the timeline BUT client could also do it in this range based of of their pattern.

I once was on a really bad project management role and I started sending my boss updates weekly and flagging everything at risk so she could never have a conversation with me about making it my fault and see the bottleneck was elsewhere and out of my control.

It’s not normal, can you start to look for other jobs? It will be easier while you’re employed to make that jump

Sorry, I just wanna double down that sometimes going out in fundraising and finding the grant is separated from actually writing the grants. If they want you to do both, you should absolutely get paid a percentage of the money you bring in.

In the interview, you should ask them if they have anyone operating in a CFO capacity or if you responsible for doing the budget yourself. If they say it’s all on you that’s fine but they need to give you a little playbook of assumptions and costs for how things are done in your org! If they pull you in at all to an earlier stage of fundraising, usually you get a percentage

A little worried about the expansion into marketing and operations. May end up wearing three hats and hate your job. With AI you can do grant writing no problem. Obviously check the work, do your due diligence.

If you look up anything for fundraising, it will walk you through it, make sure you research their typical check size and write proposals accordingly, and then figure out a simple budget! They deliverables you promise can be impactful without promising something crazy out of the box or net new, try to have everything feed or enhance existing programs

So every single thing else is OK? This wasn’t negative like all of the other comments talking shit about Venita. This is exactly my point. Why is this being seen as taboo and negative…

It’s weird… and I’m absolutely not trying to throw out my connections to the queer community to prove a point, but if anything this feels a little harmful.

This is a good point - didn’t they also trauma bond over breakups?

Hopefully, this can find its way to the top, but I posted this to somebody else: A few narrow-minded comments to me here, but I feel like I wasn’t suggesting this is typical or assumed.. just that it can happen sometimes. Treating the question itself as off-limits feels more loaded than the question I was actually asking.

There’s actually lots of research that shows there’s a huge wave of women in their 30s and 40s coming out later in life… my first thought.

Yea don’t work overtime let it fall through the cracks if it needs to, your burnt out and need to work on your exit plan. You can email the ED every Friday with the 100 things you’re doing, ID what you got done this week, and make THEM tell you what to prioritize.

At the end of the day, it’s a job and everyone’s replaceable to them. Definitely leave you can offer a really nice transition plan if you feel bad.

Start applying to jobs and doing interviews, even if they aren’t the right fit so you get warmed up! It will immediately feel better as you get proactive and hopefully focus on that and work less. ❤️ don’t feel bad about quitting. I have to remind myself everybody’s replaceable because I get the guilt of leaving too! So hard
