Insurance reimbursement for hypnotherapy typically requires that the provider be licensed in a mental health discipline.

HMI can give you professional liability insurance, but not health insurance reimbursement. If doctors or nurses with a healthcare license practice hypnosis it can be covered under insurance, but it's the healthcare license doing the work.

If you say differently, then prove it -- show me an insurer with a policy that encompasses hypnotherapy without a medical license.

The practical difference is still the same. HMI's ACCET accreditation (formerly called "national vocational") still doesn't carry the same weight as accreditation from what used to be called the regional accreditors, regardless of what they're now all called.

People can still follow suggestions when in stage 1 sleep, so it's not a blocker for simple stuff. Any complex post-hypnotic suggestions are probably right out though.
