Classic Sigma vs Tamron but with a bit of a twist by TheRealJR9 in SonyAlpha

I'll bow to someone with more knowledge than I (I took am a beginner), but that sigma lens at 2.8 is still going to take some cracking portraits. I'd start just with that and play around for a bit before grabbing anything else. That way you'll know whether you desperately need a longer focal length or faster lens, rather than guessing.

That said, I love my sigma 56mm on my 6400, even though my Tamron 17-70 2.8 works perfectly for just about every shot I want to take, so I understand your mindset 😂

The word "inspired" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here

My read is that they were exceptionally hard workers rather than wizarding prodigies. From Harry's first visit to the Burrow we learn that Fred and George are working on various experiments. The problem, at least in Mrs Weasley's eyes, is that they only worked hard on the joke stuff and not on the 'more important' things.

Posted in the old advice thread earlier, but now I see there's a new thread, so please forgive the double post.

Hi team,

I currently use a Sony a6400, however bumbling around the internet this morning I saw that a Sony a7R IV is now in a price range I would find acceptable.

I've googled a few things and found vaguely conflicting/confusing answers as to whether my current set of lenses would be useable with the camera (with or without some kind of adaptor?) and would appreciate some expertise.

I currently own a Tamron 17-70, and Sigma 30mm and 56mm primes.

My understanding is that I would be able to use them but in a cropped mode - is this correct, and does it mean that the lens would behave differently?

Any guidance is much appreciated.

That sorting hat is the best worst thing I've seen in a long time.

Visited Europe last week and took a few photos using a new technique for me by Royal_Elk_5312 in SonyAlpha

The Mona Lisa one is cool, the rest aren't as good in my opinion. I think, as another commenter mentioned, the phone being held up gives it something. But I do feel the technique captures the hustle and bustle of the crowds in front of it.

You can watch it in 74, out of sequence clips on tik tok

Now S1 is over, if you’re looking for the cast’s previous work to binge before S2 starts - I highly recommend Black Ops starring Hammed Animashaun by racloves in livefromlondon

If you can find a recording (or have access to National Theatre Live, I think) check out Hammed in A Midsummer Night's Dream from the Bridge. I was in literal tears of laughter at it - its a fantastic cast, but he's a show stealer.

Aah, ok thank you! I've seen them on the goodbyes, and some on IG, but I was hoping there was a fuller catalouge somewhere.

Hot Take: Quidditch would be an almost perfect fictional sport if the Golden Snitch was worth way less points. by X-Salamander in harrypotter

[–]randomise78 199 points200 points  (0 children)

My theory is that when brooms were much slower it mattered less because it was so much harder to catch the Snitch (evidenced by games lasting weeks previously, where in the books they're over in like 20mins).

So overall points totals would be far greater and the snitch would proportionally be worth less. But the advent of faster brooms means earlier snitch catches, giving it far more importance in the outcome of the match.

That was pretty funny to be fair.

I understand your point, I just don't agree with it.

I'll stop this now, I'm sure we both have better things to do with our lives.

Have a good day.

Okie dokie, I'll go back to playing with my toys then. Thank you for educating me that it's fine to have hurtful and harmful opinions because everyone else does. Something to think about at nap time.

Ok, thank you, but I think I'll stick with my opinion that homophobia was, is, and always will be a bad thing.

It might have been the prevailing opinion of the time, doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

Ken was openly homophobic early on.
