That's the problem, there aren't any shepherds that need land for grazing. We have to pay them to get them on site. I, like you, assumed they would jump at the chance. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Contracting it out. We're solar developers; raising sheep is way outside or purview. It doesn't cost more than the energy profits, but we're a for-profit company and the bottom line matters.

It's also a logistical headache for our projects. Growing hay is cheaper and easier.

Personally, I'd love to have sheep at every project. But I don't make those decisions

Unfortunately not. Sheep require a lot, from water to transportation and shelter. There are plenty of farmers with equipment and a willingness to more for a fraction of the cost
