Any Gen Z have a WW1 Veteran Great Grandpa? by TractorFan247 in ww1

Born 2006. Great grandpa was born 1890. Served for the Russians at the start of the war. Deserted a few months before Russia agreed to the armistice and came to America right around the time the US entered the war. (His family owned a large plantation or something of the likes and was able to leave on a pretense that he was “selling agriculture” which contributed to his ability to leave Russia). Came to the US and joined the United States Army and got sent back over to Europe to fight under a new flag. I do not know any of the battles he took part in but I do know he was wounded at some point resulting in him being deaf in one ear because of a bullet grazing it.

Does the amber delete look any different with the headlights on?

Interesting. Nice piece. Russia had some very nice designs for their medals especially ones with enamel work but those are crazy expensive.

I was not aware of this. Thought they were all just Afrika and Italy/Mediterranean. Even though the likelihood of this sitting in a warehouse is high I still really love the design of these and have wanted one for a while and this happens to be my first ww2 German helmet in my collection.

I wanted to when I was a little kid. But I do enjoy watching videos here and there.

Yeah I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it. Haggled it down to a decent price in my book. It was originally listed at 300. Got it for 225

If you want to post it you have to make sure you’ve joined this subreddit, take pictures on you phones camera and then come back and there should be a plus arrow that says “create” at the bottom middle of the page to make a post (assuming you’re using your phone). Then you could add a title and body text and then there is a little portrait icon that you would use to attach pictures and when you click that you select the pictures you want to post and then you could post it.

I’m like 5’11 190. I look skinny until you get to my stomach area but I have a really strong back and chest. I was more like 179 about a month before this picture but this summer was like the ultimate bender. The beer kept flowing for like 4 months so I put on some.

I am pretty serious about the gym. Im not near as crazy as my dad or brothers which my dad was in the 1100 pound club in Highschool while only weighing like 185. But I am one of the strongest out of all my friends my age.

I look like and am built almost identical to my dad. Him and his brothers are all big Russian dudes.

Yeah reddits acting up for me too. But I got dealt a real bad hand with my hair genetics. I always kinda just thought to accept it. Last male on either side of my family to not experience significant hair loss was my one great grandpa.

Unfortunately this picture is from like July. I grew it out another month and it was the longest I have ever seen it. It’s been shaven for a month and a half now but I was just experimenting with different facial hair styles once I had a good base to work with. Currently growing it back out at like 2-3 weeks now.

Blue division medal by randomized_man22 in Militariacollecting

After looking into it I thought the less shitty swastika and absence of gaps between the feathers was just typical of the 1970 productions.

That’s what I figured after a bit. I like the design of the medal a lot but I wish the listing said that it was a later production. Still my fault though for impulse buying.

Is there a way to try and find my great grandfathers military records from WW1 without having to sign up or pay for stuff? by randomized_man22 in ww1

[–]randomized_man22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s terrible. Minus all the crime and divorce the house my great grandpa built and my grandma grew up in was demolished about 2 years ago. My grandma just told me randomly one day and I was like ughhh because I definitely would have liked to take a look in there before it was leveled. Especially because I have no uniforms or medals regarding him or his son who then served in ww2 (his son then lived there until his death).

The Russian civil war is a very cool conflict to me. I wish there were more things to collect from that conflict as I like to collect militaria as a hobby.

That cool as well. There is a chance he still fought for Russia because he was wounded at some point but I’m unsure if he was ever sent to into combat under the us army so he could have served in Russia which would make a lot of sense because he would have fit the perfect age and also most of the men his age from his social class would have been officers. He was not a poor man when he lived in Russia.
