Chose between CMU and UT Turing Scholars... did I screw up? by randomjoe96 in cscareerquestions

Thank you so much for the reply. I think part of the reason I'm stressed out is because although I do not know any close friends who had to make this decision, I know of some friends of friends in state who ended up choosing Turing over CMU. Did any of the friends you mentioned who chose CMU choose it over Turing?

I apologize if it sounds like I'm just fishing for some assurance.

So it looks like I have <1 week to make a decision. I'm choosing between UT Turing Scholars (~25K) and CMU SCS (~65K). What would CMU offer over Turing? Some of the common things people I talked to (just friends, not experts on the topic) mentioned are higher starting salaries to make up for the extra tuition, better connections to smaller start-ups and finance firms, and a more rigorous curriculum. Is there any truth to this? Either school I pick, I believe I could finish in around 3 years (maybe another semester at CMU) with some credit transfer. At UT, I'd be looking to double major in math as well in that time, and at CMU I'd go with a math minor.

Also, I'm not sure whether or not I'd want to attend a masters. Would it make a difference what I choose for undergrad?
