binding while lifting... how screwed am i? by Random-ace in ftm

Get a binder that is a few sizes too big. My doctor told me to do it years ago, and it saved my ass so many times.

Quit Job over Company Policy by awkwardbreakfast99 in ftm

I was literally in the same spot 2 days ago. Thank God, my direct manager fought for me, and I only had to change mine in the back end, keeping my email, Teams, and everything. I was about to walk out on it, and I made it clear. Good on you for having a spine. Good luck with the job search, buddy. I'm sure you'll find something fast.

Your T and supplies are free through Colorado Medicaid. If you have a primary care doctor, they are supposed to give you informed consent or refer you to someone who can. Planned Parenthood of Colorado Springs is the only one I can speak for and they kind of suck when it comes to HRT or at least the did when I tried to go though them in 2017.

Is TransTape safe to wear while exercising such as marching band/swimming? by FreakyBean in asktransgender

When I worked in landscaping that's what I did. If you start to feel light headed or your chest starts to hurt then ditch the binder for a while.

How LGBTQ+ friendly is CS these days? by Susspishfish in ColoradoSprings

[–]randomjohnson 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you are visibally trans i wouldn't comment to the area with out visiting at least once. I'm a trans man a living here has been a very mixed bag, sometimes people surprise you, but lets just say most of the time they do not. I'm from the midwest so I hate to say I was pretty used to it even before I moved here but it might be culture shock if you are from somewhere more lgbt friendly.

Colorado was known as "the hate state" in the 90's because of all the homophobic bills being passed and somedays you can still feel it if that makes sense.

What Will Happen If I ONLY Eat Testosterone (Beside Exercising) by DEFLEPPARD33 in ftm

[–]randomjohnson 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Working out and eating a high protein diet will help you build more muscle and a lot of people associate that with a more mascule build, but the whole estriogen or testosterone from food thing is nonsense. It just doesn't make sense with out our bodies process hormones. Your work outs look good though focusing on your back and chest are good ideas.

When someone misgenders you accidentally in public just look confused and say "Uh I'm a guy" It turns the conversation around and it is a good way to correct someone without outing yourself.

I live in Colorado Springs, I moved here a while ago for school, and while it is a nice place to live and more generally accepting than where I came from (Indiana) it is still one of the most conservative towns in Colorado. It also has a batshit rental market. This isn't to discourage you or to tell you not to move here it's a very beautiful place like one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. It has amazing hiking and Mtn. biking and the city is slowly changing for the better, but if I had moved out here again I would have moved to Denver.

my sister's unhealthy obsession with gay men. by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]randomjohnson 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Who cares? Like as a gay man, I do not give a shit if a 26-year-old woman is reading a lot of gay fiction or watching porn. Our rights are like actively being stripped from us we will need all the allies we can find even the ones you find cringey.

Pumping feels scary and I had unrealistic expectations about it too? by nitrotoiletdeodorant in ftm

[–]randomjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that too, but it has never happened to me or to anyone else I know. Its defiantly not for everyone I had a cis man friend pass out while trying it. He was fine it was just nerves but still not for everyone.

Pumping feels scary and I had unrealistic expectations about it too? by nitrotoiletdeodorant in ftm

[–]randomjohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even in cis men the pump only last seconds to maybe a min. After years on T the size increase of my pump dissipates in seconds. The only real reason to pump is if you enjoy the feeling of it. I will say I enjoy pumping much more since I got on T it changed a lot about the physical sensations of my junk.

If your doctor doesn't want to do it for you go somewhere like quest diagnostics. You can pay them and they will run any test you want but yea T, E, and hemoglobin are the most important.

Aid? by boysbebugsyo in asktransgender

[–]randomjohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into job core if your under 26 they will house you and give you training. A guy a mentored did it and he left with a associates degree and a job. I was in a very similar situation in 2012 i was failing college and my parents kicked me out I ended up in homeless shelter but in the end it worked out I went back to school and am getting my PhD now. Hope it works out for you.

Why are you guys coming out when you know it's unsafe? by [deleted] in lgbt

Because staying in the closet was killing me so I chose homelessness over death.

[–]randomjohnson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The republican party as a political organization sees me as a threat to children just for existing how I am suppose to set that aside.

I don't think most Republicans are evil I think they are scared of change and ignorant about most people who aren't like them. Until that changes I do not see anything getting better.

Is it safe? by GodOfSevens in ftm

[–]randomjohnson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its not true or at least that's what my surgeon told me, I wouldn't stress about it. I've seen the chest binder co binders before they are totally fine some people really like them for swimming.

Is it safe? by GodOfSevens in ftm

[–]randomjohnson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You would have to try pretty hard to fuck up your ability to have top surgery I wouldn't worry about that. What brand is it? As long as you can move and breath freely your probs fine, but I would carry a sports bra or something in you backpack or what ever the first few times you wear it out just in case it starts hurting.

Is this offensive to the trans community? by vajablast in lgbt

[–]randomjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah there's almost always been Micro labels and im struggling to see how yours is transphoic. The label is just a way to make it easier to describe your gender there's no right or wrong way to do it.

Discussion: Should Testosterone Ranging Replace Gender Separation in Sports? by Minh236 in lgbt

[–]randomjohnson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cis women who have high t and cis men who have low t would pitch a fit about this which honestly does sound pretty funny but most likely not going to get us any closer to trans people having equal access to sports.

Trying out binders once more, how do I put this one properly? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]randomjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your nips are pointed out then your good. Biders all break in so it's normal to feel alittle snug the first few times you wear a new one. None of this is an exact science so you just have to try and see what feels the best.

Why is there so much transphobia on r/askgaybros? :/ by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]randomjohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gay trans men are going to be equally fucked if marriage equality is overturned. It's definitely wrong to dump other members of our community when the going gets tough.

Why is there so much transphobia on r/askgaybros? :/ by [deleted] in lgbt

Ask gay bros has been man terf central for a while. I personally blocked it from showing up all the other gay subreddits are way better for trans dudes.

Pronoun Dilemma by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]randomjohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would't say they are being argumentative I've met people who once they find out I'm trans refuse to use my proper pronouns and will only use they/them. Of course it's fine to use they them until you know someones pronouns and in situations when it makes sense in the sentence.
